This is a tricky set of fixtures for us:

GW34 Leicester Away
GW35 Arsenal Home
GW36 West Ham Away
GW37 Man U Home

We struggled against Leicester at home and only drew. They are suited to our style of play. I don't fancy West Ham games either. Them thinking they are our rivals, they're always fired up for this fixture. Can see a return of 7-9 pts from above set...

Usually that wouldn't be a horrendous amount of points from those games but not if we are chasing the big prize.

The fans have a great part to play in the run in, particularly being the last season in the old stadium. They need to be in full voice from start to finish, get right behind the team and be the 12th player, then see them go hell for leather!

I think us fans at home have definitely played a part so far. The atmosphere this season has been the best it's been for years.

GW 27:

  1. Man Utd vs Bournemouth
  2. Liverpool vs Arsenal
  3. Spurs vs Everton
  4. Sunderland vs Man City
  5. West Ham vs Chelsea
Bournemouth are in free-fall so I can't see them going away and causing a dent.

Liverpool have yet to lose to a Top 6 team and will probably raise their game. Draw would be best....can't see Arsenal going away and keeping a clean sheet.

We are very good at home. Everton are on a nice unbeaten run. I think we should have enough to beat them though.

Moyes's job is probably gone with defeat. Sunderland's late revival starts here.....?

West Ham again will raise their game. I actually have a feeling they'll get something here. The title race is over IMO - I can't see them losing four out of the last twelve - but the odd slip up will be incentive for us to push on...not that we should need it.

Although I think you're probably right, we can't concede it till it's mathematically impossible. Could they draw 3 on the Spin and us win 3? yes. Then the gap is four points and suddenly looks doable.

They could and you're right that we shouldn't concede until it's impossible. They have the bit between their teeth though....

Next year they won't have it so easy with UCL to play for.

I agree, just on general principle, in never conceding until the mathematical fat lady sings. And there is certainly scope for Chelsea to drop point. They have been very lucky with injuries (or lack of) this season...and the FA have been very kind in letting them get away with shit (as per usual). A bit of a injury crisis, or the FA finally treating their general shabby, scummy behaviour as it deserves to be treated could induce an implosion. And they do have a few games remaining where dropping points could be a not too far fetched possibility - United and Everton away, Citeh at home, the Spammers, who have beat them at the Hubble-Scope Arena already. But we would been them to lose three and draw one...and then win every single one of our games. Every game we play where we don't take maximum points would require them to add another loss/draw. With twelve games left, I can't really see either them losing three + and drawing 1+, as things stand. And no matter how generally optimistic I am about the way the club is heading, I'm not sure I am quite up for believing we will win every single one of our remaining games. Apart from anything else, we also have to go to the Hubble Arena and the Spammers will be as much, or more up for us as they will for the Chavs, so we can't just pencil in a loss for the Chavs while assuming we will get a win there.

All in all, I will be desperately hoping things implode for them and we gone on a phenomenal run of form.

At the same time, we can't assume we will be the only, or even the nearest challengers even if they do implode. In realistic terms, while still clinging to a sliver of hope for the title, in real terms we are in a five way fight for 2nd to sixth. We shouldn't lose sight of that.

If Arsenal fail to beat Liverpool at Anfield and we beat Everton at WHL we could be 5/6 points ahead of them which would be pretty positive. Arsenal then travel to West Brom when we play Southampton at home and then they are at home to Man City when we play Burnley away. Potentially a good chance to increase the gap between us.
I wouldnt just gloss over Burnley away. They've picked up 29 of their 31 points so far at home. That's going to be a tricky fixture. Especially considering it comes the Saturday right after international break and some players might not come back until that Thursday.

Our GD isn't far behind theirs - more than likely if we gained 10 pts on them it would be better. So really 'only' two losses and two draws, not 3 and 1.

i wouldn't just gloss over Everton or Southampton either, both are good teams with dangerous forward players in form. In fact Everton are still in with a chance of making contact with the top 6.

Well, those games I have watched certainly bear that out, I just wish some of those fans who kept quiet would join in as well, the more fans singing the better!

Well, yeah, M8...there are a number of different permutations - they could lose 1 and draw 4, thus dropping 11 points - but I wasn't trying to be exhaustive. Just trying to draw the quickest straight line. Away to united and Everton and home to Citeh are three games any one of which they could easily lose, and the Spammers could be fired up enough to at least get a draw. A quick way to envisualise them dropping ten points. But that is all just an intro into the main point which is that even if they dropped 10 points, no matter what permutation of points led to it, we would still have to win every single game. And any game we drop points in, they will have to drop corresponding points on top of the ten points they have to lose in the first place.

It's not impossible - an implosion is possible (though I can't see it unless it involves an injury crisis or a hefty punishment or a combination of things. But we will still have to show phenomenal form. It might seem more plausible if our away form was better, if we had a six pointer directly against them too.

But I will still continue to watch their games desperately wanting them to get slapped...as I did at the weekend when they beat Swansea. And I will still watch all of our games genuinely believing we can the one at hand. Just see them now as having gone from being clear favourites to, over the last couple of weeks, seeing them being overwhelming favourites - and the betting odds reflect that.

Still, would be a dream (and the ultimate revenge for all their shite over the years), if they did collapse after believing it they were home and hosed - and we were the ones to take advantage of it.

Take your point about goal difference, though.

So, what you're saying is: It's not going to happen ..... and the good lady isn't singing yet! For shame. :p
