I was in the upper Paxton last night and was shocked at the amount of ‘c words’ being shouted. Lots of little kids around too. Kinda expect it in the south but always thought Paxton was more family side.
There are a lot of ****s up there tbf - never did me any harm when I always went as a kid - always heard **** this and **** that.

I don’t think I’d say **** any more or less had I hadn’t heard it as a kid at The Lane

I agree, but I also think that if Spurs had paid for such a station, it would only have been fair for the club to take the lion's share of the profits.

Why though? By paying for the station that means fans spend more time in/around the ground which is already beneficial to Spurs through beer and merch sales etc. TFL wouldn't get any extra money out of it whereas the club would

It’s a shame the club didn’t let outside small business into the ground to serve & feed their punters. They’d have given a shit about service and customer satisfaction

Greed, pure and simple. Wanted to control and take all the profits - unfortunately in return you get a crap product served by staff that, in the most part, don’t care and are paid and treated like shite!

You get what you pay for. I’m sure the posh privately run (i image they are outsourced?) Michelin Star bits are great…..

There were plans to have a tube station below the stadium called Tottenham Hotspur. It was going to use the already existing tunnels and be a branch line from Tottenham Hale.

However, TFL decided that they would try to fleece us and wanted us to foot 100% of the costs and they demanded a significant share of the ongoing revenue.

We (rightly) told them to do one.

There is a tunnel... just the one. As it is just a service tunnel to get to the depot.

A NP station would require digging a second tunnel (plus upgrades to the existing one), building a new station and then redoing the signalling for basically the entire line. The Victoria line is a simple point to point line effectively, and TFL through signalling upgrades over the last 2 decades have a line with great reliability and trains every minute. Prior to Crossrail it was basically their jewel in the crown.

So if THFC want them to throw that out, build a new tunnel, station and brand new signalling service to facilitate a branch line, to service a station that at best gets decent passenger numbers every other week. The club better expect to be the ones to pay for it.
The northern line which was already a branch line and due to receive a signalling upgrade in the future anyway could just about justify an extension to the multi-billion pound development at Battersea. Northumberland Park stands no chance, as much as I'd love it.

Hence upgrades to NP, WHL and local buses etc. have been the way to go.

I love the match day experience to be honest. There are things that irritate me terribly, the fuckers recording the game on their phones, the nagging doubts VAR creates and the people who feel the need to abuse our players or share every thought.

But being there pisses all over watching on TV and always will. That feeling when the ball hits the net, even if VAR ruins it a bit, is pure joy. The refs final whistle as we stumble over the line in a game we should comfortably win. Magic.

And, I have to say, being amongst like minded people, there’s something tribal about it. After Chelsea dicked us 3-0 last year, I went to the Number 8 to drown my sorrows. What followed was one of the strangest experiences. Everyone in there just thought “fuck it, we’re shit but we’re all shit together” and we sang until closing time.

All of that is irreplaceable and is one of the highlights of my week.

You can divorce your wife, you can disown your kids, you’ll change jobs a dozen times. But your football team is the one thing that’s for life and who in their right mind would have stuck with this lot if they had any other choice.

For as long as my arse looks south, the match day experience will always be something I look forward to.

I do have to share one story that baffled me and feeds into the above. The Woolwich game last year, for anyone that was there was incredible. Just raw emotion from the moment I saw fans burning a Woolwich shirt on the High Road to the final whistle.

Anyway, on the plane back the next day, I’m sitting next to a fellow fan and we talk about the game. He pulls out his phone and says “I got this great pic of Kane taking the penalty and of him diving in to head the second goal.” And he showed me.

WTF?!? In any game but particularly that one, who the fuck is whipping out their phone at crucial moments? And why? The back pages of every paper had the same photos but in much better quality. I really don’t get it. And this fella wasn’t a kid, he was in his 50s.

So you're one of the tourists ruining the atmosphere and driving prices up? ;)

Its all abit sanitised now isn't it. I am an old git but my 20 - 30 year old self who used to go to the old Lane would not like it I don't think. However, for anyone who remembers the foot long hot dog and warm pint of pissy Carling for a fiver (that had been sitting behind the shutter for half an hour waiting for half time) the current food is a gastronomical delight. Seems we have become entitled not just about the football at our wonderful club.
lol yes i remember the crappy food and the lack of drink options. I think at one point it was a warmish bottle of Carlsberg in a plastic bottle and cost about a fiver. The drink choices and food options are way better now.,

Getting fed up of the over the top stages before I get to my seat. Go up to my block and I have some gimp running after me wanting to make sure I’m in the right block after I tell him and show him my st. Fuck off.

Funny how Levy makes sure the atmosphere in and around the bars are taken care of ,with live bands etc so we have a jolly up whilst spending lots of dosh and hoping we stay in the ground as long as possible spending.

Inside the stadium during the game , the atmosphere is of little concern to him, no flags, no drummer, no organised section creating an atmosphere.... couldn't give a toss.

What he fails to recognise is that an atmosphere in the ground might get him more wins and more success meaning more money...

Levy missed a trick there.

Attended my first game of the season on Sunday and thought it was great (except the result obviously). Had fish & chips before the game and a few beers in the goal line bar. Then a couple up on the top tier where my seat is. Plus a couple after the game. Service was very quick, beer tasted ok to me. Also the atmosphere in the second half was pretty good.

Looking forward to the Leeds game now.

Oh yeah I'm sure everyone on here would appreciate a club-organized atmosphere...

It should always be organic. The south stand was built to be THE organized section creating the atmosphere. Flags are a bit arsenal-y and does a drummer really create the atmosphere we want?
