Yep just watched the conference, well done the club from shutting down the scum from asking any questions about United.
Just so they can twist whatever poch says.

They'll just have to fall back on making it up with 'exclusive reveals/ insider close to the camp/ according to reports'

I have to say, whilst feeling unsure over the last couple of days about what all this means, today's conference has led me to believe the following:

1. Pochettino will not talk about his future during the season (i.e. will not "do a Redknapp"). I think he will stick to his job and in his own words 'focus' on Tottenham and trying to achieve as high a league position as possible, as far into the CL as possible and attempt to crawl into the Carabao Cup final.

2. I really have no idea what he will do in the summer. I want to believe he is focussed on Spurs in the long term, but I really cannot read him because he is so professional. I worry though that Journalists being stopped from asking questions about Man Utd is an insecurity on Tottenham's part.

It's frustrating actually, because I really thought he was going to be "our" Fergie or Wenger (without the madness at the end for the latter).

Superb squad, top management, fantastic youth, incredible training facilities, growing global brand and most compellingly finally a stadium to match the world's best. All to come - yet I feel Pochettino is key to our short term success and winning a title.

Poch should just give cryptic answers whenever a journo asks him about it.

Journo - “Could you comment on the United job?”
Poch - “Only in the autumn, does the butterfly truly fly.”
Journo - “Woud you be interested in taking it on?”
Poch - “Eggs are just chicken periods, did you ever think about that?”

I think you have summed up why he wont be leaving...

If he did that - they'd say he was channelling Cantona and it was a clear signal that he was desperate to go to united.

How much do you think the kind of players people want will cost? That'll be hundreds of millions of pounds. Given we make something like 30-40m profit each year, and you're only allowed to make up to a 5m loss, writing a cheque would put us in jeopardy of breaking FFP regulations.
I think Pochs would be happier if we got certain players tied down to new deals as much as incomings. I personally don't think he'll go, but my one concern is if levy believes it's a possibility no way will be sanction any incomings in the same way he didn't with Redknapp when he thought he might get the England job. I can understand this but imo the best way to keep hold of Pochs is at least in part give him what he wants.

I don't see anyway Poch walks if Eriksen, Toby extend and we bring in a CM of his liking (though of course all of those are directly tied to Poch confirming he'll be here). Now if we have the same fiasco as this last summer, I'm not optimistic at all.

It's a bit of a double edge sword, are they likely to sign if they believe Poch might go?

Thing is I don’t think Jose would have come to us four years ago. We are at a point now ( and for the last two seasons ) where he would consider us.

He recently won the league with Chelsea. He lost the dressing room again but that same side went and won it again under Conte.

He works better with unproven players. His first Chelsea side were perfect for him. Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Duff, Robben, even Joe Cole. All were on the way up and he instilled in them the final qualities they needed to make the next two steps.
We are in a similar position player wise.

Right he works better with players with strong mentalities and characters this is true but I don't agree that this set of players would have won a cup under him especially when this set of players came up playing under Poch, who's to say that they would have reacted better to Jose.

It's one of those hypothetical scenario's that you cannot prove or give a definite answer on.

It isn't something we would normally praise, but kudos to our press officer, he shuts Dharmesh Sheth down completely.

Not an easy thing to do in a press conference but he handled it incredibly well.

What happened?

Simon asks for the cameras to be turned off while it was sorted out. I wonder if the sky guy was asked to leave.

That's the trouble for me. Reading between the lines it seems like Eriksen, while not unhappy at the club, is weighing up his options before signing anything just in case one of Barca/Madrid etc. come in for him, and if there's uncertainty about Poch's future hanging over us then that will obviously make him even less likely to sign anything before the end of the season.
