Especially when you consider only one of our signings from last summer made a noticeable improvement on the team. Signings do not automatically mean improving the side. We should know that as well as anyone.

This is a squad that can improve from within. We're not an ageing team that is coming to the end of a cycle. We're a young evolving side that has improved with each season under Poch.

I'm still very optimistic about this season and we haven't signed anyone yet. I still think we'll sign a couple of players later in the window. However I have a good feeling that signings from last summer Janssen and Nkoudou will do a lot better this season. If we sign more new players this summer what is to say they won't have another slow first season? It's almost as if signing from abroad can at times be seen as a year advance. Sign them now but expect better from them in a year. I think that's why we prefer Premier League signings for the here and now.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how these youngsters do in pre season. We have some seriously good opponents to test ourselves against (as we did last summer). It will be interesting to see who the next breakout star will be. Also great to have Winks back again.

Liking Poch's latest comments.

Seems like happy with DL, which is positive as some ITK recently indicated might not be.

Also would like to see players like KWP, Onomah and Sterling (?).

And as Mil1lion said likes of Janssen and GKN (who I still believe has cracking potential) should hopefully be more settled now having had last season to bed in.

Can't watch it at the mo, any mention of Edwards ?
No mention of Edwards. But lots of talk of how good it is for the academy to know that if you're 17, 18, 19 you'll get chances with the first team, and if you are good enough and prove yourself you can play with the first team.

It's getting frustrating with Edwards. However Poch didn't mention any beyond the expected players so may not mean much.

I would like to see Edwards being involved, he looks a genuine talent. It was extremely good to see Poch's views on our spending process. He does seem to actually support the process, it may be from beliefs relating to the vast spending in football - specifically coming from his history working with Espanyol where he would have faced the same monetary issues we have in trying to compete.

I am happy to promote the youth. We have some seriously good players at the moment and unless an exceptional option comes available, there is no need to spend on average players like Sissoko. However, we need to use the youth, not just talk about it, particularly, again, Edwards.

Builds on comments from the end of last season, which also included CCV, that they'd be fully integrated into the first team.

Doesn't fall in line with the goat's bleat
All I would say in light of everything I have read on this forum in the past weeks, along with the Goat's bleat about ' not happy' etc, does not necessarily make it correct or not. Either way you really do not expect the manager is going to hint anything negative do you?

No but I wouldn't expect Poch to be so positive in light of what we heard from the Goat, if you put it against this interview you'd be forgiven in thinking that it's two entirely different situations and circumstances.

I also liked the video clip but I do wish Poch would sometimes use another word than 'philosophy'....you probably posted a suitable alternative....'ethos'. Thanks for the link...

I thought the main meaning of the the word philosophy really means to search for or to study in a logical or reasoned way. But it may also mean to to have a system of beliefs I suppose, as in a philosophical outlook. So he could be meaning having a belief in the way they are doing things is the correct way.

Just a thought.

I understand what you are saying. You have to forgive me being cynical. Whilst I have absolutely no idea, I would be surprised if there was not a clause in his contract, him agreeing to not rock the boat publicly at any given time. Just a thought.

Here is the key:

“We may lack a few players, but we are so calm because I think we have a very good team and the most important thing for us always is the team.”

That says a lot for me.

What does this mean to you?
