"Last season I told you some numbers, but this season we don't know," he told reporters.
"I don't know if we are going to sign [anyone] or not. We’re working on that. I cannot tell you if we're going to sign one, zero or two or three or four."

Tieing down Kane on a new is year deal which breaks the wages ceiling, plus the other core players committing is a massive gesture of support for this journey which is now in to a fourth year. A fourth year which could well be the year where all the caveats fall right for silverware or title.
Or a 4th year in which we stall or go backwards and players see the Kyle walker route to success out?

I initially took the fasten your seatbelts in a positive light but now I think it means to survive this fucking car crash of a window.
Very true. As much as everyone here appreciates those in the know sharing what they can, it might help from time-to-time to clarify a statement such as this... far too much room for ambiguity. EG: 'Fasten your seatbelts cos shit might get ugly'. Or, 'fasten your seatbelts cos we're about to go on a thrilling ride!' But, given the emotional rollercoaster that is the collective emotions of us crazies on SC, this sort of comment is borderline cruelty!!!:eek::rolleyes: (and, before anyone loses their knickers thinking i have the audacity to criticize at ITK, um... no... I'm being facetious, and making fun of us, the mad, bonkers, SCites frothing at the mouth over what has become a legitimately freakish TW.)

market may be worse than ever... but that doesn't seem to stop those around us from buying players. that may be reality, but clearly those around us have had more luck... perhaps 'cos they've gotten the bit between their teeth and worked harder for it. I dunno. All I do see at this stage is a lot of broken promises and one irate and disappointed manager, if things don’t work out in th TW. Don't give two shits about the market. If Levy really was willing to get someone, he'd find a way to make it work. Grealish is a perfect example, of his brinkmanship biting us on the ass. Granted, this has always been important in terms of our financial solvency... but, my God! There's far too much at risk for him to be playing those games.

I don’t think Poch is gone next summer even if Levy continues to screw up this window. Reason being: Levy can blame this on the early closure of the window, and that will satisfy Poch enough (especially since none of the primo jobs will be available anyway) to stick through next window to make up for it.

Herc has confirmed my fears as a fan about what's going on behind the scenes with Levy not backing Poch. The ONLY hope I think we have right now as fans is that one ITK pointed out a few days ago (not sure who - I want to say Rebrab) that Levy knows this season is his legacy. Moving into a new stadium, a top three team, a great manager, etc. He is obviously cheap but he is also obviously not stupid. If Poch leaves, the entire thing falls apart and Levy has to know that fans will blame him, not Poch.

So that is the only hope I think we have left. Which is bigger - Levy's ego or Levy's frugal nature? I don't know. Can he actually make himself spend money that he doesn't want to spend? It is worrisome that perhaps the media spin has already started with Cullen making the comments today.

When they parade Cullen out with remarks on transfers before the window is even closed you know what’s going to happen. Ah well. Levy fucked it all up again. As per usual.

Meltdown has well and truly started! Poch is great, but can't see him improving a squad that come 3rd with no pre-season or new players.
Stadium is great, but such a shame it wont have a big grand opening being finished. Personally hate the new kit.

This is going to be a hard 9 days. Possibly a hard season. If memory serves me correct, Have we not finished 5th,3rd,2nd then 3rd again. What happens if we finish 4th or worse, going backwards!

I thought that the days when talk of DL being in Spain with a wheelbarrow filled with cash = saha & nelsen were over.

By all accounts we have been interested in martial and zaha for atleast a year now, so surely we must have known for quite some time what the situation was and it would take to get the deals done. So why are we still fucking around? Neither of them was at the world cup so can't blame it on that.

Also, what have we been scouting? Are we seriously telling ourselves that our squad is so good - or that the rest of the players in the world are so poor - that we can't find several others that would add something to this team? It's been pretty clear for quite some time that our midfield is in a pretty rough situation with injuries and the Dembele-stuff. That's something that should've been crystal clear before the window even opened, so why not just get it sorted right away, even if it maybe is going to cost us a bit more?

It seems like we're always surprised by either how difficult some deals are or by the other teams valuation. I wonder how often the deals are difficult because of us just not being good at getting things done. As gards said earlier: money talks.

I miss the Cain Hoy takeover rumors. Levy OUT.

Bring me all the negs but if you bsodls still stand by levy after this calamitous window, your nuts. This is such a fucking shit show. Levy outright refuses to spend. Best opportunity we’ll ever have with the best manager we can possibly have and as per standard, ENIC let’s the pitch go by. ENIC has taken us as far as they can. They cant get over their penny pinching ways and get out of their own way for a change. Time for Levy to fuck off and Lewis to enjoy his retirement with his umpteen yachts, and his mansions in florida and the bahamas. Sell the club, tavistock:mad:

As far as I can remember, we voted yes for shutting the transfer window early. Since we voted yes, that means we thought we had sufficient time to make deals. How can we blame people when we were one of the teams to support this?

You guys can't honestly believe that a team that finished almost 8 wins behind the league winners and didn't win any silverware doesn't need to make on-field improvements. We lost ground last season because of Wembley and this season we have a new stadium to contend with. We absolutely must sign quality or it could well and truly go tits up from here on

There is nobody... Let me rephrase... There is ALMOST nobody saying we should sign 0 quality players. What we are saying is that the time to sign players has not ended. If at that time we have signed 0 (quality?) players many of us will be right with the rest of you going "What the fuck Levy" but until that time there is absolutely no reason other than own overblown senses of doom and dispair to assume we will sign 0 players that improve our team. It's fine to worry. Worry is cool and hearing you are not alone can be very rewarding but screaming and throwing tantrums and exclamation points and calling for firings and quitting being a fan and all of that: helps nobody - including and especially not yourself. So just chill out. If the transfer window is so stressful for you (not specifically you, the figurative posters, "you") that you literally cannot handle it then maybe do yourself a favor and just walk away from it. I promise you, you will feel better almost instantaneously.

I get your point, and others that say we need to wait and that is fair, however, we generally know how this story tends to end. Given it seems the baldy leopard has not changed his spots, we have an idea of what that means for us.

Poch and Cullen on the same day preparing us for the worst. Not exactly confidence inspiring. Happy to wait until the end of the window before venting on Levy but if it does end up that way suffice to say I’m going to make @yankspurs look like the head of the BSodL in comparison.

I've been resisting any meltdowns because the window hasn't closed, but I must admit to a slight crumb of worry worming its way into my thoughts. The issue for me is momentum and whether, if we don't make the right signings, we can build on the progress of the last three seasons.

By the way, can someone explain what BSoDL means...?
