Amazing how people are lining up to use the whole range of negative ratings on my two latest posts in this thread.

Look, you all have to understand, Pochettino was delivering a joke, a ha-ha funny, cheeky, entertaining joke, meant to amuse folks at large and trill Spurs fans. And he delivered it perfectly. I sure enjoyed it. Managers and players engage to rarely in true rivalries, it was a bit of fresh air, really.

But, we have to remember, Pochettino has shown his character as a ruthless professional. He jumped on Saints when they came along, leaving his precious Espanyol. He jumped on Spurs when they came along, leaving a forgettable, mid-table club. He selects line-ups free of emotions and rids of players after 12 months like it's nothing. I'm not criticising him, these are merely facts.

Hence, to extrapolate from a cheeky comment a statement of intent for his future as a manager based on assuming he lets him self be influenced by irrational emotions towards a fully mediocre club is a new level gullible naivety.

It was just a funny comment. But he has ambitions on his own. If offered the chance, he'd sign for Barcelona in a heartbeat. And I for one would be excited on his behalf.

He also left his wife for another woman the cold heartless man and he left his kids at nursery and told them to find their way home to teach them about responsibilities, such an emotionless human being.

They're all facts I think although I've just probably made them up and tried to state them as facts like you have ;)

Cause people feel better making negative shit up so if the inevitable does happen they can feel better about themselves.

I don't think people will feel better if Poch left. We're all spurs fans who love the club.

It's just that we've been here several times before. I remember when the Bale to Madrid rumours started and there was people on here adamant he was committed to AVB's project, had a 4 year deal, his daughter was just born and he wanted to live near Wales. The FIFA cover in a spurs shirt was seen as the clincher. He's staying.

People who doubted the above and questioned his mysterious injury that pre season as him going on strike were dismissed and neg repped to oblivion. Did it make them feel better to see the guy shaking hands with Perez and saying 'Hala Madrid'? I doubt it. I was gutted.

The reality is that people know where THFC are in the food chain. If Madrid/Barca etc come they invariably leave. IF Poch bucks that trend, that's bloody brilliant. The quotes are very encouraging. I don't think Real are looking for a new manager at the moment so no need to worry right now.

Like the way he said "if Levy fires me...", and not "if I leave...".

That meant a lot.

He is indeed a very honourable gentleman. A lesser man would have sought revenge if Levy fired him after what he's done, by going across to our sworn enemy.

We cannot hope for a better man if he is to go for any reason.

I think one day in a time far away he would love to return to Espanyol to manage them.
After he has a couple of Premier League titles and a few cups!

That I won't begrudge him, as it just shows a mark of obligation to who gave him the break.

I don't think any of it was meant as a joke tbh. After he tells his little story about it being impossible to manage Barca and for the same reason Arsenal, the reporter asks him direct "does that mean you are are not going to be take over from Enrique", to which Poch replies.... " My answer was very clear".

I know other managers/players have said similar in the past, but listen to the interview again especially the part where he talks about loyalty and what it means to him.

Poch could very well be our Wenger. If we book the plane now, we can get a discount based on a 20 year advance purchase.

Mauricio Pochettino said:
“I have tried to convince them that football is not only when you have the ball,” Pochettino said. “When you don’t have the football, it is football too. To fight, to press, to challenge with your opponent. Not to wait and be passive. We need to be aggressive and proactive and to try to challenge the opponent. That is how we are on the training sessions, every single exercise or drill is about playing football but fighting too, when you don’t have the ball.”

That fighting spirit is essential to the training sessions at Spurs. Pochettino likes to take part to prove to his players that even now, 10 years after retiring, he has a thing or two to show the youngsters.

“You know I like to fight with them to show them I am stronger than them, mentally and physically. Sometimes physically I lose the challenge because they are physically stronger,” he said, pointing to his thighs. “But I am more strong here,” pointing to his head.

About 2 weeks ago, Poch denied he would reject Barca because of his Espanyol connections. Correcting an old comment by saying that he was born with a ball in his hands, not bull which related to Espanyol and was viewed as dismissing any opportunity to manage Barca. Yet a few days after 'chance' meeting Barca's chief in Spain, he now rejects them completely based on the same premise he denied earlier. That's a strange turn of events in such a short space of time. IMO something happened in that meeting. Maybe they pissed him off somehow. Whatever it was, it was good for us as that's one big side ruled out....oh and that shite down the road.

Poch probably changed his tune after the Barca chief informed him that they'd be signing Sissoko in the summer.

I loved what he said during the MOTD post-match interview last night - 'The most important thing is the badge, when you play for Tottenham it is not about the names, it is about the team'.

I'm not sure I could love this man anymore than I currently do.

When Poch hugs it's fine but when I hug a few girlies at work I fucking get HR on my case.

Jeeeeez

Without a comparable video it's difficult to ascertain what you are doing differently that is causing the concern.

Like Poch, is it a smile, quick hug and let go?

They didn't all hug him back though!;)

He is very different to other managers and I think he has principles. What other manager do you know who gets the players to shake hands with each other every day?
He has a project here, so as long as Wembley doesn't derail it, I think he'll be here a while

8) Levy deserves his due for another fine Spurs season
Blossoming talents of Tottenham’s Dele Alli can take him to the very top | Sachin Nakrani

Another excellent season for Tottenham Hotspur has rightly led to praise for a number of individuals at the club. One person whose contribution has gone practically unmentioned, however, is the chairman, Daniel Levy. Renowned as someone who drives a hard bargain and is not afraid to sack a manager, it is worth remembering he is the person who brought in Mauricio Pochettino and is overseeing the club’s move to a shiny new home. Credit for Levy feels due and after Spurs’ win against Watford, Pochettino for one was happy to oblige. “If I am doing well, it’s because he believes in me,” the manager said. “He deserves full credit for all that’s happening in the team. And the club’s financial side is one of the most healthy in the world. We had a difficult relationship at the beginning but we built a very strong relationship. I trust in him and I hope he trusts in me, too.” Sachin Nakrani

Glowing comments from Gary Neville who says Poch is his Manager of the Season (the other 5 pundits consisting of 3 ex Gooners and 2 ex scousers all picked Conte).

Neville said:

Gary Neville - Mauricio Pochettino

I love Tottenham, they're probably my favourite team in the league to watch.
Pochettino has built a team, brought players through and the budget is nowhere near the other clubs. For me he's doing an amazing job. :)
