I don't want to drag the thread off in that direction, so probably best to move it elsewhere but it's not an issue regularly starting a couple of lesser squad players in amongst 8-9 of quality. Fergie did it for the best part of two decades and Klopp to some extent does that as well now. They'll look far better and be much more effective playing with a large number of superior players than they look playing in a team with many of the same ability.
I guess the point is that to make his system work the top quality players need to be in those key positions (3 x CBs, RWB, LWB, CF) whereas the other positions (CMs, AMs) can be rotated to a certain extent?

I like Davinson but were not an oil club so we can't just spend without outgoings.

Dav can pull in a reasonable fee and if we pick up someone running down their deal selling him leaves us in profit and without an added wage.

Makes sense that he would be available.
Yup like getting kounde in

January is very difficult and if we get 3 in I will clap my hands at that achievement.

Conte said it cannot be fixed in one window.

Conte is asking for patience.
I have no doubts in Conte whatsoever but if we let Arsenal finish top 4 ahead of us I predict he will have an even steeper mountain to climb as they won’t mess around, they will strengthen again. I agree 3 in would be very good. We need to get at least 2 of high quality in those 3 though. If that’s CB and RWB then that’s 2 of our 3 glaring weaknesses addressed. Then CM is next as Hojbjerg showed last night

Ok so I've been holding back a little bit because of reactions to ITK posts over the last few windows. Prior to that I've always been fairly to the point and as in depth as I could, but the sheer number of creative ratings given to various ITK posters and certain posters purposely twisting posts just to create a certain narrative meant I couldn't be bothered in all honesty. I carried on sharing within our back of house group has have others but believe me when I say there's a fair bit you are no longer hearing because some of you can't take ITK for what it is.

Nothing is ever set in stone and things are fluidly changing all the time, sometimes by the time it's been posted on here it's done a complete 180 and back again. Depending on where the info has come from there may well be agenda and o, opinion attached which skews things. Personally I try and say if I believe this to be the case and depending on the source sometimes that's easier to do than at other times. I generally say when it's come from an agent(but sometimes agents are better placed than even Levy would be ;) depending on the player involved) or someone I know at the club who has been there for years. So with that in mind I'll try again for the last time, as I say take it for what it is which is info that has been passed on in good faith and at the time of hearing was as it is.

There are no lines to read between, and no fucking smokescreens!!!

Doc, TN, Dele, Rodon, Davinson, Bergwijn are all deemed surplus. There are others we'd accept offers for but they'd have to be above what we consider their value to be. Conte wants 3 in in January, and 3 more in the Summer. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if we only got a couple in now but 6 was what they agreed to be realistic and necessary over the next couple of windows. The priority right now is for a CB that can play left and center a RWB and an attacking option. I know there will be a plethora of you out there with the opinion that other positions are more important, but Conte would like these first, and it has to be done his way now. As I say things are fluid and if the right player became available in another position we would of course look to bring them in as well.

As I posted yesterday It's always been about being in the right place for the start of next season. This next few months are effectively a huge pre season where the players are to learn their new roles and ethos of how the manager wants to play. He wants to first be solid defensively, it's his main priority and the hardest part of his system to get across to the players as it's usually a different system to anything they've played before. From what I was told he feels it's for easier for a good AM to slot into any system and find runners, than it is for CB's or WB's to understand how he wants them to play during different phases of play. That's why he wants to get that side of things established and in place first. Like I say should the right AM become available we'd not turn our noses up but it's not the priority as of right now.

Conte knew exactly what he was getting into when he came in, nothing at all has changed FP has been working on things and I expect us to get at least two and probably the 3 Conte ants this month. I certainly wouldn't rule out more than that if we can get players moved on which again is down to FP now. January as we all know is always difficult but I think FP with all his contacts will find it easier than we've found it in the past.

You need to give it time folks because one things for sure we won't get a better chance than we do with Conte, and anything we can get from this season is a bonus.
Thanks Trix, and great post all round!

I wonder if we’re looking at similar timeframes, getting in all the players last min or if paratici is going to try and get them in quicker

Trix to you and the other ITKs (past and present) a big thank you! For most people on here we want the insight you provide and know things change quickly (especially with Spurs). Given the team's ITK due diligence we know we are getting good info and can enjoy the ride, wherever it ends up. Who of us doesn't enjoy hearing of a player before it breaks in the press, of discussions over poker games or looking fondly back at Blue & Yellow?

Unfortunately the keyboard warriors out there have only multiplied over the years (see any thread on twitter) and these negative snipes are their pathetic little wins.

It is great to hear the reaffirming that there is a clear plan in place. That the board appear to understand we have hit the managerial jackpot with Conte and we must back him. Plus with FP we have the right person to wheel & deal and get deals done.

Personally I think to help oil the wheels we should crowdfund a very large, framed definition of "False Economy" for Daniel Levy's office. So when he wants £40 million cash for Doc rather than using him as a makeweight for Traore he stops himself and instead reminisces of the good old days of Mr Byrite.

There are players mentioned as on the sale list who we have an emotional attachment to (dele) or woukd love to succeed with us (all bar Doc). But last night has shown us again we need new players. Players to add quality, fit Conte's plans and perhaps most importantly have the right/without scars mindset to help the team as a whole think like winners.

I'm optimistic of where we will finish in the league this year and very optimistic of what our team might look like next year. Hell, of course I am optimistic for the future - i am a Spurs fan.

Such a logical update @Trix thank you pal!

it’s going to take time, he’ll even Liverpool struggled at the start, yes we’ll lose games, yes we ain’t the level of the top few teams, accept it, get behind the team and enjoy this rebuild!

Going by what Trix said about wanting a CB who can play the central and left side and Conte hasn't played him there, not even last night, he doesn't seem to fancy him in that roll so I guess it sort of fits. Good defender just not for Conte's system.
Stop reading at good defender

I have to wonder why we need to be told all that @Trix has just posted, it ought to be obvious to us Conte is a man with a mission and the club has to have signed up to it.
Great to have the t's crossed and I's dotted though, cheers Trix.

We saw the summer he left Chelsea that if he doesn't get the players he wants that it doesn't work with him. As long as the players coming in are within reason, then let's do it or there is little point appointing him in the first place.

Fingers crossed we can get a couple in this window that are his choice or acceptable to him and not 3rd or 4th on the list. I'd rather wait to the summer and get who he wants in then, than make do now. Although another striker is paramount.

Kind of underlines how unreasonable some are being at wanting us to change formations to suit the players. From the moment Conte stepped through the door we all knew we'd be playing with a back three and offensive wing backs. It's not something you can teach easily and he needs specific players to do it, so finding those he can work with and drilling them this season will be massive. We've heard from journo's about how he's coaching some players mid match on where to position themselves, it's all about long term results.

Our good form and the way those around us have been falling apart has got people's hopes up.

Based on Trix's post, I'm assuming we'd need to trim the wage bill to get 3 in. TN is costing us 12 million a year, so getting him moved out would be of high priority.
