Im not a golf purist but do like Mcilroy so im hoping he wins it. Everytime I watch him he is so inconsistent across the four rounds with one round generally letting him down but he started well here.

Usually he starts bad and makes up the ground too late but this is a good start from him that could give him the confidence he needs.

Hes started well in all the majors so far this year generally, his record is 2-8-5 in them as well, so really hope he can maintain his form for the 4 days this week. Would love to see him win

Mcilroy has choked this. He hasn’t holed a putt longer than 10 feet since the 17th on Friday, you can’t expect to win a major doing that. I think he thought he just needs to shoot 70, and now his head has gone as shown by hitting driver on 16. If Smith finishes 4-3 this is over

Hard to say he's choked when he shot 66 yesterday and hasn't had a bogey today. Smith is playing the round of his life. Had very little luck today, burned the edge a couple of times

Rory made putts yesterday so not sure where that stat is from.
