I like Rashford and I don't to be honest. Think he shows great energy and ability at times but also often tries a bit too much. Think he's still quite raw which is understandable given his age, but despite him being a more exciting player than Lingard I think Lingard has solidified an rounded his game better. To summarise I just think you more or less know what you're gonna get from Lingard whereas with Rashford you never really know.

HT hot take:

Rashford is having a great game, fairly obvious but has to be said. Delph works really well as the LCM although he, Maguire, and Rose have got in eachothers way.

Negatives:

Henderson needs to sort his positioning a bit, coming too square to the ball at times. RLC isn't pressing as well as Rashford or Delph which is leaving pressure a bit uneven.

Just had a look at Sterling's goal record for England: 2 in 38 games. Ouch.

Only had half an eye on the game but am I wrong in thinking England are looking good at times. Fluid and progressive when they can?

Maguire's been done a couple of times in behind. Not sure if he's comfortable in a back 3.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Stones is the most overrated footballer by the English media.

They have looked ok, but apart from Rashford and lotus cheek we really don't look like creating any great chances.

Might be more with the 2 he has at CB with him... I think Maguire is not too bad.

Campbell getting in behind him twice had nothing to do with the other two. I don't he's comfortable being dragged out wide either.

I'm saying this as someone who thinks Maguire is a good player, or at least looked good playing for Leicester this year.

Enjoying watching this young England side. I think Southgate could be a breath of fresh air.

I was concerned he might turn out to be too timid and dull. But Southgate seems to have good man management skills, which is probably the most important part. He's done a good job so far and the young players have responded well.
