Not sure if it’s a question for this thread but have we given up on signing an out and out striker as Richy competition (Orban/Vlahovic style)
Manager repeatedly stated he wasn't looking for no.9 in this window. Also we signed Veliz, who won't be seen much, if at all, pre Xmas but was definitely bought as a player for the first team squad.

Still a lot can happen that cruches the nice deal

Hojbjerg not happy with Atleti offer
Atleti don't want obligation
Spurs not happy with Atletis price and terms
Chelsea pulling the plug to play with Spurs
Spurs and Chelsea can not agree on price
Gallagher wants to stay because he is a Chelsea boy
Gallagher wants to stay as he sees too much competition here

Would be really surprised if this works out tbh.

Well as of now Sanchez is staying so this CB we're looking at is going to replace Dier I assume. I can't see another one unless someone pays what Levy wants for Dav.

It'll be decent business but hardly masturbation worthy.

Agreed. A good step forward in terms of the squad rebuild/evolution, but still work required in future windows on both ins and outs.

Feels like a good starting point for Ange. Hopefull we can find ourselves in the position next summer where we can splurge on 2-3 additions of real quality to get us competing at the very top.

Yeah it gives us good balance but I would are only Johnson as potentially breaking that ceiling of "brilliant" player.

Gallagher is good for the system and the CB is just decent cover.

Not that I am complaining but I have a feeling next summer we will be crying for another winger on the left and possible a CF

Sitting here waiting for a feckin typhoon to hit (for real- the storm has just started outside and shops etc closed earlier this afternoon & hours ahead of uk time)
What a great relief this place has been today.
Everything looks busy as can be and positive to boot!
Gonna be a long night refreshing this page and watching/listening to the storm outside

Can see Dier being released or offered to Saudi if we bring one in. Intention is clearly to get himself a move to a foreign club next summer.

I think it'll give him a solid young group which he can mold into his image for the team. It'll mean we can look at any players from anywhere in the world without any worries over HG quota's.

As I've been saying it's not spectacular but it's joined up thinking.

Yeah my fear is another repeat of needing to move players out but hopefully focusing on HG and the certainty of Sanchez, Dier, Perisic, Lloris contracts all expiring regardless of what happens this window, we will have a lot more room to manoeuvre.

If the prices being quoted for Johnson and Gallagher feel expensive, take a look at Burnley buy Maatsen from Chelsea for £31.5m. Never played in the PL.

£50m the new £30m
£30m the new £15m
etc etc

Things ain't the same

15m for Veliz. A player that Ange says won't play until the second half of the season if at all. This is the market now.
