Ange is rebuilding, let him rebuild.
Have more confidence in him than any other since Poch.
We are in phase 1, gonna take 3/4 phases.

We all know the money for Sanchez will be lost like the Kane money come January. So we better hope Phillps is up for the challenge if needed.
Yet again Levy knows zero about the footballing side. If he had any idea Sanchez will be leaving...... which i would guess he had why not buy hefore the deadline. One big reason why MONEY !
Where is it going to get lost. Down the back of the sofa? ENIC don't leverage or take money out of the club. But don't let the truth get in the way of your purple and gold agenda.

These two are leaving today, as it wasn't a priority with the Turkish window being open longer, a CB target not being available (Tapsoba used interest to sign a new deal...lol) and Ange having faith in the youth and existing defenders if needed.

Give it a rest!!

I mean we were trying to buy cbs. We’ve been told well try to get Kelly/tosin in jan. Or on frees in summer, I’m sure we have other cb targets.

It’s obviously a big risk with Sanchez. But with 30m euros to gain between his wages, transfer fee and ndombele a wages saved its huge financial upside.
Hopefully dier and Lloris are paid off lower than their contracts now and then our wage bill must be looking hugely improved.
It’s very exciting times, most of the old guard gone, a young exciting team that can be a huge project for 2-3 seasons.
I must admit, is crazy the turn around in the club since the end of last season. I was genuinely worried for the club but now the future looks exceptionally bright.
After jan if we get in a HG Cb like Kelly, shift on hojberg hopefully (maybe sign Gallagher) then we are in a very impressive situation.
It leaves us able to do what arsenal have done and go big on 2-3 key targets next summer.
apologies I know not all ITK and I will delete accordingly just very excited for the club now.

Might go into more detail when in a better mood but I thought this was a season to take these kind of risks, but whether it's worth the risk ultimately depends on, how much luck we have from now until January and more importantly. What we do to justify the risk either in Jan or the summer.

I don't think this window can be looked at in isolation, I appreciate the mistakes of previous windows do tint it a certain way but the deals we did aside from Kane have to be looked at as a new story altogether rather than a new chapter. We have to look at what deals we do going forward. The good thing about Jan is, if we're going well, then you hope we actually add the additions to act on it. If we're not going well then I expect some significant signings that really boost the squad next summer. Personally I don't think Lloyd Kelly is that for two reasons. One is his current level, the other is he won't have much opportunity to develop with VDV infront of him. Having said that, I think if we go for Kelly, it should be for free with Tapsoba and then Phillips.

Anyone who's looked at Romero's disciplinary and injury records and decided we don't need to worry about a quality backup is negligent. VDV seems to like a last minute sliding tackle too.
Would you just quickly remind us of how many pl games Romero has missed through suspension?

Yet it appears that Ange ok'ed this.

Must admit I'm slightly shocked as we look so so light at the back but you know what, all about the Angetrain, if it's ok with him, it's ok with me.
Especially after seeing what the goons did to a CB pairing of Maguire and Evans.

His time in Italy is a concern, several every season.

Throw in his injury record too: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cristian-romero/verletzungen/spieler/355915

Don't you think that is less likely under Postecoglu than it was under Conte?

Not sure but to be fair to Romero the only red I can remember him conceding in the league was City last year when he took a second yellow to stop a dangerous attack in injury time.

His disciplinary record is surprisingly better than I'd expected from such a "edge" defender.

how about maybe we the fans treated him like pariah, scapegoat and he chosen to walk away, I can’t blame him.
Bang on. The amount of players in decline and past it... Even Son .... It's a joke

Right, but all it would have taken is 30M for Schurrs (or whoever else Ange wanted for that area) and we’d be in phase 2 already. There was just no need to take this massive risk

This debate reminds me of last summer when a section of supporters shot down the idea that Lenglet was a cheap cop out and Conte really wanted him. Turns out he was a cheap cop out and a pretty shit one.

We might get lucky but this is full on putting money and relatively little of it before on pitch success which is the exact thing people get wound up about.

If the club were that confident in the kids we wouldn't have been trying for Tosin all summer , Ange wouldn't have spoken about getting two in and then on deadline day we wouldn't have been in for Kelly. And no it's not about clearing the decks because Sanchez only has a year left , unless we're to believe the club can't possibly suffer half a season of an extra centre backs wages come January.
Having mulled on this I think I may have been hasty.

What's turned my head is Ange not wanting people around who don't want to be here.

Now don't get me wrong not signing a centre back was criminal but actually I'd rather see these kids get a chance to make a mistake than give the same people who have been making mistakes for years another chance to let us down.

Onwards and upwards.

IIRC he gets all his bad injuries playing for Argentina. So just ban him from playing for Argentina :shifty:

Anyway I always felt Dav was good decent enough back up until January at least but TPTB decided to make this move now. Let's hope Phillips is the gem we hope for
