Hugo said in an interview he was excited by our plans which means he was promised big and ambitious signings

Or the fact that he was keen to work for a highly rated coach perhaps? Or saw something in the NLD? Not everything revolves around signings. Although thats what it seems like to the wrist-slitters in here

there's like three posters on here just winding people up and fanning the flames of dissent. Absolutely ridiculous, we didn't need an upheaval this window, we needed to strengthen key areas which we did. Jesus fucking christ.

Name and shame... I think it's A&C, Rob and Taoist Monkey ;)

Good lawd the negativity in here.

We manage to pull in at least one pacey attacker, and I would consider this a damn fine window.

Fuck the big names people. For once, up until this point (with attacker still in the air), we have finally used a window to address positions of need. I love it. All that money spent last year, and we most certainly did not address positions of need.

I would agree but we were ruthlessly torn apart yesterday, was 3 should have been 10

This is the type of team we need to be beating to be in CL again, we are light years behind them and it showed

So we need massive investment not kids

Jesus.H.Christ! The Citalopram needs handing out in here today! Personally I think we've done some good business so far. We moan when we don't sign the likes of Cabaye etc before Newcastle, then we moan when we don't sign £25-30m players, then we moan that e have wasted £30m on players!

I actually think we've got a lot to do this evening. I'm in the Welbeck still to us camp.

"Our focus therefore is to continue to invest in and develop the squad [but] we shall not look to a summer of major upheaval, rather to strengthen in key positions - to play the style of football for which we are famous."- Daniel Levy in April.

No attacking signings is, in my view, completely unacceptable. Time for the club to have an honest discussion with the supporters.
Start a thread mate...no one wants that shit in here.

I think that if we don't do anymore business then an announcement about Verts contract and the new stadium will follow tomorrow. Lets face it, until that stadium is built we cant compete. I hope we forget about the top 4 for now and concentrate all our efforts on the cups, lets win a trophy.

Poch has been here 2/3 months yet we expect him to have a perfect squad already. Let the bloke coach and trust the new signings. Unfortunately we have to try and find the new Modric rather than buying the finished article as that is our level. While it is un-Levy like, maybe we should judge the squad after 2/3 transfer windows for Poch!

Yes and how long did it take Rodgers to get that team going to where it is today?

I went to the shops today and bought some milk, bread, coffee and wine all of things I identified I needed and I got the best of these products I could with my pre identified budget. I did not buy a Ferrari or a toaster as they weren't needed, it would be nice nut not tally necessary and not within my budget. Just saying...

I think it's an interesting debate to consider whether we are strong that we were at the beginning of the window. We certainly are weaker when it comes to creativity and goal scoring in the final third. Sigurdsson and Holtby both have the ability to pick a pass and shoot with both feet, which is a commodity that's lacking in our current squad. With no further incomings, we will struggle to really give Europa a push, because Lennon and Townsend simply aren't good enough as part of the attacking unit of 4 to create or score goals. We can't be using Eriksen and Lamela regularly for midweek games, as we will be greatly reliant upon them to spark us in our league matches.

Losing Sandro for Stambouli is an interesting, but potentially lateral move. Sandro's injury concerns are legitimate, but Stambouli has never played in this league and at this level. He doesn't have a rapport with most of the squad, so it'll take him time to settle, whereas Sandro was by all accounts a well liked member of the squad with plenty of big match experience in England and Europe.

Our defense has definitely added some depth and quality, though I don't think we have added anyone that is a surefire starter in our first XI. Perhaps Dier or Fazio at RCB, but there will be an adjustment period for them as the season progresses against the better sides. Mussachio (who was absolutely immense for Villareal against Barca yesterday) really would've been a coup of a signing. Unfortunately, it was too complicated a deal for us to pull off. Vorm will provide depth, which will be nice for cup competitions. The same thing goes for Davies, to an extent.

My only wish was that we had just opted to take advantage of some of these older, quality free and loan signings that were available. Song and Eto'o would've been pretty good additions for us, all things considered.

I have a lot of respect for JJ, and he alluded to other options if Welbeck fell through, so let's hope we can grab someone late in the window that will help us get goals in the more congested games we play.

Good point. Keeping Lloris and Verts already makes this a better window than I was anticipating.
We kept them, which is great, but how will Lloris feel after being told we have money to spend (which we don't, clearly) and the club has big ambitions to get CL, surely Levy should have said big dreams and not ambition. People harp on about us working above our means and fans expectations are higher than they should be, but is it not the club whose expectations are unrealistic? When you don't back the manager with the players he needs and then put pressure on them to secure unrealistic targets you get everything you deserve....Nothing! We have been getting progressively worse since the days of our CL exploits and yet the boards expectations remain the same regardless. As a club we don't make sense! We have had so many spectacular "potential" transfers, but we failed to nail pretty much all of them. Bottom line is, we don't have a pot to piss in and still Trying to play in the big boys playground. I feel for Poch and any other manager that takes what has fast become a poisoned chalice.
