I actually just read someone venting on Facebook that they were more gutted by Caulker goin than if bale did. I'm sure he'll ask up in the morning & feel shame & remorse - but wow. people only want to hear incomings, huh?!

Wish everyone would trust AVB's judgement on the sale of Caulker without throwing there toys out the pram, And see what he's got lined up. I think he earned that at least .....

dawson is more crucial to the stability of squad and club compared to caulker

In what way? Happier to fight for his place, is loyal, a leader and a great pro but not really ever going to cut it.dives in too much.very slow and seem to love hoof ball.

And on that very pleasant note, I'll bid you all a good night. I'm sure plenty of good news will come our way & we'll ultimately end up pretty bloody happy with our squad. Keep the faith, COYS (y)

Well if the reports are true then if we had 85 million burning a hole in our pocket, I'm sure we could find suitable replacements! :p
Yeah cos that's spurs' down to a T. I can see levy refusing to spend the Bale money just so we don't over pay for anyone

If his knee wasn't reacting well to training I'm sure they wouldn't have sold him.

Even if he is responding well there is no chance he is going to be match fit for the start of the season.
And as LLM said he was rushed back last season and thats what put him out again hence my gamble comment.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that it might have been Caulker himself who wanted out, knowing that he would have been 4th choice with us. He probably felt that it was time to move on and find a team where he has a starting role. Maybe he did not want to go out on loan as well, having reached an age to move on to a new begining. If we are making all this fuss on loosing a 4th choice CB, I dare to wait for our reaction if Bale is shipped out. God forbid!

It's 130 million, 80 million from TV according to A&C and 50 million from Lewis. Still have to identify the player though and do negotiations with the club.

Fuck that is a lot of money, imagine if we did have that much to spend. It would really become almost like football manager, almost entirely like my playing experience. :p

dawson > caulker in terms of a defender. in 2 years dawson can play the gallas role and some one new can come in as the 123 choice. thats the ideal transition. caulker on the other hand hasnt shown the potential to be a first choice (aka king at 21 was already a different class, varane etc). he may very well become a 2/3rd choice thats easily replaceable under 10mil(eg vert 1st choice, ajax captain, developed, under 10). i rather take the 8.5 now

If we're truly pissed off at Jonathan Barnett, then it makes the Caulker deal going through so quickly make sense. Could be we're trying to get rid of all trace of him.

If so, expect Gylfi to have some movement soon.

Would we go back for that young Croatian defender now that we have a squad place free? Or isn't he ready for the first team squad?
