That is exactly what needs to change... ASAP.When did we last spend £20m or so without recouping that through sales?

I firmly believe that should Townsend imminently depart, that cash influx will be the catalyst for a striker coming in.
Just the way Levy seems to work, books never get too far out of balance.
ITK suggesting Townsend is about to be gone, frees up wages, opens up a squad place, and provides us with cash. All
to be reallocated to a new striker, some time soon hopefully.

Not really. We've actually steadily improved since we moved from £20m annual net spend to zero net spend in 2008. It has made us focus on organic and sustained growth, rather than short-termism
Going based on the ITK stating that "we don't want to bring in anyone that won't improve us" is getting frustrating. If that really is the position of the club then whilst I understand the premise, I don't agree with it.
The reality is that when you only have 1 striker, adding another will ONLY improve us. It certainly can't make us any worse! I'm not suggesting we go and get another Rasiak but if there is an issue signing a player like Berahino or another that we REALLY want, then we have to be smarter about it, use the scouting network and find a player that can help us and take the burden off of Kane. Find an experienced, savvy veteran player that knows where the net is and can spell Kane in key moments. It will nark a few to say this I'm sure but if he had been available then a player like Jermain Defoe would be ideal right now. We know he can score and he's a different prospect to Kane and we can get him in for 6 months and nothing more.
The bottom line is that we are risking our entire season on the health and form of one striker because if we're stubborn about this, don't sign anyone and Kane goes down in February then we can pretty much kiss goodbye to the top 4.
This isn't a knee jerk reaction to last night's defeat. If Kane's effort hits the bar and goes in then we win that game but it doesn't change the fact that we have needed another striker all season long.
The fact Levy hasn't learnt from that debacle and we're now likely to repeat the whole sorry mess again and it may cost us CL football begs belief.
The "can't make us worse"-solution we already have in the squad. We have many possible solutions to simply patch up the surface of the flaws and carry on. There is no need to purchase any such solutions, when we are not even playing those second string cards we already hold. I'd be in favour of signing a goal getter who'd slip right into the starting 11, but signing yet another gamble of a back up plan is simply not what the club should be doing anymore.
The last time Levy made a move when we had a good chance at CL was to bring in fucking Saha and Nelsen. And that wasnt the last time we had a chance at CL at this juncture. So has he learned? Nope.I mean, you know none of that to be true.
That goes against our entire present strategy. Like the strategy or not, but the entire core of the present regime prevents that option.find an experienced veteran that isn't playing

Yes it is true. We've only got one out and out striker on the books, again!!!I mean, you know none of that to be true.
Ok. Anybody on here who doesn't personally know Mr Levy please stop making any comments or opinions regarding him.I mean this with the greatest respect, but given that you and the other chap are people that have never in their lives spoken to or met Daniel Levy, I think I am fine to completely ignore and/or mock you when you suggest that he has or hasn't "learned" from something and when you contain not even a minute amount of knowledge on the subject, nor a modicum of ability to look at the bigger picture.
Come on, what he was expressing was completely within the realms of opinions. Are those opinions correct? Maybe not. Did they warrant a semi-intense moderator attack? Absolutely not.I mean this with the greatest respect, but given that you and the other chap are people that have never in their lives spoken to or met Daniel Levy, I think I am fine to completely ignore and/or mock you when you suggest that he has or hasn't "learned" from something and when you contain not even a minute amount of knowledge on the subject, nor a modicum of ability to look at the bigger picture.
No he's right.Come on, what he was expressing was completely within the realms of opinions. Are those opinions correct? Maybe not. Did they warrant a semi-intense moderator attack? Absolutely not.
It has also led us to a squad with ONE striker.
The focus on organic growth as you call it has had its benefits. But now is the time to invest - not by splurging gazillions on star names but by focussing on one key position and by bringing in quality - even if it costs 20-30 million...
