Still hoping for at least a departure by the end of the week as Grey Fox mentioned earlier in the week. Granted, we are running out of time and haven't heard much at all about any movement.

In the Birt article in the Telelgraph, which is a response to the Bale speculation, he says we are going to wait longer until we bid for Benteke. I know the deal is complex but I hope that's days and not weeks he's talking about - although he probably doesn't have a foggy himself.

That's old isn't it? It looks like winter (surely he wouldn't wear trousers in this weather?) and Benteke now wears the red version of his Tiempo's. I know it's sad but I know by all of those football boots that it's an old picture.

We all know they wear all the new ones as soon as their out.

Funtime Franco Friday tomorrow, I fully expect benteke to sign. Not completely sold on him, but he's is a striker so that's a start! I really want ade to stay though, with proper competition it could bring the best out of him. We are desperate for a striker now with 2 on the books, why buy one and sell one? We would still need another. Unless we sell Defoe, he doesn't really count (semi joke)

I still half expect us to go back in for leandro though, could live with ade going if we got another proper striker in addition to benteke. Although not entirely convinced on him either. Osvaldo is the guy I want at spurs, our links seem to have dried up him though

They are all insane if they are wearing full track suits today. Has to be old. Is that their new or old training gear?

It's a photo from last season. I think it was originally used a few weeks ago when someone was making a joke about how the rest of the villa squad would ignore benteke when he returned to training

Wasn't there some ITK way back in the window that said levy will go back in for Leandro when deadline day approaches? If so, it would make sense to sell one of our current crop when the first new striker comes. Not sure if it was actual ITK or whether it's just something I expect as it seems to be deadline day tradition

I'm actually glad he's training as if he chose to go AWOL and missed most of pre-season and we didn't conclude until late in August then he wouldn't be able to hit the ground running and not be match fit until well into September.

I'm more than a little concerned about United's interest in Bale and more pertinently, i'm worried his head will be turned as I dare say he'd much rather stay in this country and play for United than move to Madrid.

No it really wouldn't. What sell a striker and hope we can conclude a deal we haven't been able to conclude in 2 years? Maybe we can line up a move for one of our strikers in case we land leandro, but get the fucker through the door first before selling.

I would rather start the season with one of Defoe benteke and Kane or Leandro benteke and Defoe than start with both Ade Defoe and benteke...

We won't be selling Bale mate, chill. He's going to be worth a ridiculous amount next season anyway. Even if he doesn't sign a new contract I'd be stunned if he were sold. Its not going to happen.

They would all get games if we make no further additions to the attack. Ideally we would have 2 big lone strikers, and a new goal scoring wing forward that could play up top in an emergency. Without the wf we still could do with Defoe. Ade should not be sold, and I would expect him and benteke to fight it out for the place - both would play a lot.
