As Poch would appear, from his actions, to be losing faith in Jannsen ( getting him to train with development squad, subbing him off against Aston Villa, etc ) I expect us to be looking to cover the possibility of being without Harry Kane.
Strikers available in this window that would fit 'the Poch revolution' whilst being okay with half a season of possible bench warming are few and far between.
The player we need, and should have got when dealing with Fulham, is Celtics Moussa "two esses" Dembele. His stock has risen further in Scotland and why we aren't considering loaning them Jannsen ( to get his confidence back) and buying their goalscorer, paying them 10 to 12 mill, which is a good profit on their 500k compensation fee paid to Fulham in June when he was out of contract. He has already proved he can score goals in the Champions league and handle big game pressure with goals in the semi final and final of the Scottish league cup.
Watch dembele a lot this season and he's a very lazy player. Wouldn't rate him any higher than griffiths. Celtic also looking around 30 million so don't think we'll pay that money anyways

That was the same criticism he got at Fulham. Janssen could easily have torn it up in Scotland and everyone would be asking why we didn't sign him.

Yeah that makes sense. To a degree.

Son and Zaha do have different qualities. For one Son is probably better playing from the left whereas Zaha is probably better playing from the right the right, although they can both play both sides. So having both gives options.

The signing of Sissoko suggests that raw pace and power are important qualities to Poch. And Zaha is closer to Sissoko than he is to Son in this respect.

It's possible that in the Premier League these attributes are more conducive to a consistent performances.

And don't forget Son has largely played for better teams surrounded with better players which may skew his numbers in relation to Zahas.

Zaha's numbers in comparison with his palace teammates are fairly consistent whereas Sons performances are probably the least consistent of our attacking players.

Bearing in mind neither Sissoko or Zaha are your cup of tea but Sissoko has shown he can be effective in our shirt, do you think it's possible that Zaha could be more effective?

Sissoko would bulldoze Zaha.

Which of Son's teams were better than Man Utd? Zaha was a complete flop for the reigning PL champions whilst Son was a star player for a second rate German team.

Just on the Mendes ITK, Ian Harte was on Goals on Sunday this week and he is now an agent working for Rob Segal (who is the agent for Dele Alli).

Couple of things, 1. He said he believed Dele Alli had an offer from China but rejected it. 2. He also said he believes Dele is very happy at spurs and that it was the right place for him.

The emphasis here is that he qualified everything with "I believe...he's" etc. So it could be guesswork or he, as I am taking it, he knows of Alli's situation through Rob.

When asked what he would do if he had a player in Payet situation, he replied he'd make him rot in the reserves. Refreshing tact from an agent and throughout his appearance, I got the impression Rob's team are not in it to unsettle players but more concerned about what is good for the player. Shows we are fortunate one of our star players is with such an agency.

Apologies if this not for this thread. Mods please let me know and I will delete. Thought it was interesting in an otherwise quiet day on the thread

One would think that if we are after two players this transfer window, and one is Isco, then the other would likely be a forward. It's the only other weakness in our team. Unless of course we are thinking about sticking to 3421 then maybe it could be a defender. I know noises were made that we wouldn't go desperately look for a defender now Jan's injured, but I'm sure it's been on Pochs mind.

Still can't see us getting Isco, he plays too much for RM, but it would be absolutely incredible if we did get him.

Where would Isco fit right now? I know it's not all about the first 11 but wouldn't shift any of the midfield to fit him in right now. Would love him as an option off the bench in place of Sissoko or Son though (even though I'm a fan of both). Can really see lamela leaving this summer too

Can't see Isco leaving Real Madrid's bench for ours.

Isco is a stunning player, I know we love Eriksen but he would have a really hard time keeping that spot.

Your right though if we had Isco with a 3421 formation we would have Isco, Eriksen and Lamela fighting for probably 1 spot.

I gotta say, I was one of the people really calling quite loudly for our need for a playmaker and Isco is someone I'd have been delighted for us to sign. However, Eriksen has stepped up in the biggest and best way and Poch has seemingly seen the light, got him off the wing and is ensuring that he's plays more centrally now. Since that change he's been arguably our best player, even more so than Alli and Kane. Without Eriksen, I don't think we'd have won all of those last 6 league games.

So, one could argue that we don't really need Isco anymore but equally, if he's gettable then it couldn't hurt and would only serve as more competition.

Imagine Eriksen, Isco and Alli in behind Kane. Yes please.

I think the interest in isco is the result of poch's long term goal of having the tactical flexibility to play multiple formations at a high level. One of our key formation along with the three at the back will be the 4141 that we used a little bit earlier in the season. with eriksen and isco two top playmakers playing in the middle of the attacking band of 4. that would simply be a thing of absolute beauty to watch if it ever comes into existence.
