The information in your scenario would be hearsay and surely the agents would also be covered by the contract as well (in my hypothetical contract... anyone who questions my interpretation of the hypothetical contract can fuck off, it's my hypothetical contract so it says what I think it says).

OK I seem to be racking up the disagrees and dislikes for saying JJ said POTL's info about Modric was on the money. Let me make it clear:

Luka- Deal agreed with Real. As I have mentioned in earlier threads and seemingly highlighted by the media this morning he was promised by Daniel that if Real came in he could go, we have agreed the deal with Madrid now- we move on- as does Luka. We have tried to get Sahin in return, the player wants to play for a CL club- to be continued on him.

Blue- He is holding this deal up, and him only. He is paid an incredible amount of money at City and obviously will be earning substatially less at us. Agreement is in place with both clubs, the player is holding the deal up in regards to wages, and obviously loss of earnings for losing the City Contract.

Yellow- His club are changing the terms every day on money- negotiations are taking place between the two clubs, the player wants to come, but Inter are changing valuations and add ons as they know we desperately want the player. Work in progress.

Porto- Asking big money for both Moutinho and Hulk. Hence why DL has been trying to get maximum money for Luka. Trying for Moutinho but they want 30m.

Dark Blue- Transfer fee the issue, not with the player.

Those are the facts. Form your own opinions as to who is to blame etc etc. Work is going on behind the scenes to get deals done, obviously we wanted to get things done earlier than we have or are going to, but its not just about one window- it impacts us for future windows, we do not want to be known as a club that get backed into a corner and just spends because we panicked. Negotiation is an art, like playing poker. Deals will happen.

Also, what's the point of ITK if when you give the wrong info you can just say 'well yeah, things do change you know'.

I'm sure I remember JJ saying deals are done ages before us fans find out. So how can he do a complete U-turn in 24 hours, if it would have been done a while ago? Oh yeah, things change...

I think the point is that the source tells you something and you pass it on in good faith, if your source then says things changed you pass that on in good faith.
I've been involved in deals that I've thought done and dusted only for the other side not to sign and other deals all ready for a marathon selling job only to get it all signed and sealed in an hour and all retire to the pub.
I suspect now that JJ is tweeting all day he passes on sooner than he'd pass on ITK and before the follow up qualifier casts doubt on the first claim.
ITK is controlled, twitter is free flow.
