I think 'Arry does likes Livermore. He's like the new Jenas. Folk seem to have a go at him for no reason.

Livermore has put in some good performances but when his form dips - it's easy to criticise him as he's homegrown - bit like people did with O'Hara by saying he's not good enough.

Can anyone remember the Udinese keeper who's on loan at Siena that we were tracking - Brkic? Unless he's injured - he didn't play, nor was he on the Siena bench last night. Our new keeper? :D

SP stop talking nonsense, all women are not crazy, just the crazy ones are

1) I have conducted many experiments into the loonacy of wimmin (sic.)...each one has returned a positve result - wimmin is loons :hump:

2) Perhaps you is a loon. If so how would you know. So, maybe you claim that wimmin ain't loons is driven by being a loon and a wimmin

I'm only trying to be fair :shifty:

8 days into the window, 61 pages and 900 plus comments and so far we've bid for no one, huff.

Tbh I think it will be like that all month, simply because I don't think we're looking to do much business.

I think we want to offload Pav and Gio, and I think we want to buy Leandro, but I think that's the absolute most that will happen this window.

Remember too that we've only spent £16m in total in the entire last 2 years(vdV, Pienaar and Parker being the only players we've paid for).

We've also got £20m of loans that will mature (don't know if the money from player sales in the summer cover this though).

You've missed out Sandro, he will not be pleased.

We've made back all the money we've spent afaik with Palacios, Crouch, Keane and Hutton all leaving, so I doubt that'll change when we're going well.

I thought Sandro was all done in January 09 (though he stayed at Inter till the summer)? Other than Sandro that window our only other signing then was Kaboul, and that was the cancellation of debts, rather than an outlay.

O'Hara was also significant income last summer, so I'm sure we've actually made quite a bit of profit on transfers over the last 2 years.

No, not really.
In common parlance, it is a phrase used to indicate that something is not really a secret at all, but pretty much common knowledge, even if the fiction is maintained that it is a secret.
The usage you challenged was fine, my definition was fine - we aren't writing a dictionary.
I wasn't trying to give you a dictionary definition, but, there again, you didn't ask for one. You asked in which way it was a secret. I don't know you...for all I knew you could have been an overseas punter, confused by the slightly irregular usage of such an idiom. In that context, I provided a simple, common use, common sense explanation. I could have been more exact, more precise - but I didn't really think it was warranted. The answer I provided did not preclude the possibility that it was something folk were trying to keep secret - I just didn't specify that, you inferred it. But, in any case, in this instance, transfer negotiations are supposed to be private, and, I feel, Journo was being slightly tongue-in-cheek, and so demanding some precise dictionary standard (which is probably less rigid than yours) wasn't required.
It certainly isn't restricted, in common usage, to inofrmation that someone is tryiong to keep secret. It certainly is used, in common usage, to almost any information that is not in the public domain, for whatever reason, but a large number of the public is aware of, anyway.
And, I repeat, I only said it refers to something that isn't a secret at all. I did not complete my sentence by saying and no-one is attempting to keep it a secret - did I? So, why should you infer that and take me to task
So, not only was there no real problem with Journo's usage of the expression (which I am sure you undersrtood fully).
But there was nothing inaccurate in my response to you - just an abscence from which you inferred innaccuracy.
To be even more pedantic.

Respect fella:clap::clap:
