Completely agree. Watched him for the first time today and was very impressed. Showed Carrick-eque passing from the back, was superb.

Is exactly the sort of CB we need imo. Caulker and Kaboul are both beasts and are the future. vertonghen seems a really classy ball playing CB and being left footed would offer so much balance.

Surely we must be trying to get him in. Be crazy if we are not.

Just read the Carroll ITK, he would give us something different as a proper targetman with aerial threat and Harry could probably rebuild the confidence, I cant see how we could get him for a decent realistic price though.

Liverpool massively overpaid for Andy Carroll. But taking money aside, I thought he was a good signing for them. When they signed Carroll and Suarez many fans thought they had a terrific strike force coming in. I had Carroll down to be a success. 15 league goals minimum every season for 10 years for Liverpool is what I thought. Nothing spectacular but very good.

I have continually expected him to get better, while also realising that without genuine wingers he would struggle at Liverpool. Downing should have address this slightly, but he has had an absolute stinker. As has Henderson, and so has Adam really.
Carroll was very good at Newcastle. NOt just at scoring goals, but his general play. Excellent with his back to goal, brilliant in the air, general link up play very good. He was good for England too in the minimal time he played.
£35m - overpriced, but good player.

Spurs have absolutely no presence in the box when it comes to crosses. We have two of the best wingers in the league, probably 1 of the best in world football, and we have no presence in the air. Adebayor has done nothing. I really expected him to be the answer to Bale's fantastic crosses, but how many has he been on the end off? He plays too deep, something I never knew he did pre Spurs.

Carroll could offer us a real presence up top, for the right price. For Big money go get Llorente or Cavani. For £10m - £15m, what we sold Crouch for, he's a massive upgrade in terms of aerial presence, hold up play and goals. A great 'option' to have.
I'm all for game changing options. Thats key to me. We need to have players along the line capable of coming onto the field and changing the game for us, making a real impact. Carroll would offer that. Defoe offers that. For instance, sign Hazard, have Lennon on the bench, then Lennon offers that. Currently we lack this. If we cant improve our strongest 11, then improve our options on the becnh from slow, useless Pav & Krankie to genuine game changing options.
Carroll and Hoilett, Damiao & Remy, whoever......

On the ITK suggesting wrapping up deals for the summer - that would be pleasing. How many times have people on here asked why we don't get our business done early? Sounds like we're trying to in this instance, though obviously uncertain which players. It would be good to announce one or two summer transfers as ITK seems to suggest

To be fair to thowig Santa, he doesn't usually come out with such sweeping statements so I wouldn't jump straight down his throat. I think that there's a fair bit of evidence that AC needs to 'mature' a little.

Oh, and aren't we busy every bloody summer! Hope Dl's going back to his Modders type dealing.

I read it as though Levy has changed his stance on his brinkmanship tactics and is getting deals done now rather than late in the summer
