Time will tell.
We've made our bed, now we have to sleep in it.
But that means no excuses:
No "our players are tired after the World Cup"
No "it is taking us time to settle into the new stadium"
No "all of our competitiors have strengthened"
If this is all part of some grand plan, then great. No need for excuses.
But if that's not the case, then don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
perhaps we're saving our cash for January, so we can inject some fresh faces into the squad for that final push for the title in the second half of the season..
There's no ambition under ENIC to kick on. We have become Arsenal, and will likely go gradually backwards on the pitch now as they did.
Having said that, it isnt the end of the world IF we keep the squad together. Fourth is a possibility, assuming as always that we have good luck with injuries and Kane can find a way to keep going.
The first month looks daunting though and could well set the tone. Lack of new blood, fitness among key players and symbolically Eriksen moving into the last two years of his contract feels ominous.
See you in the Newcastle player ratings thread.
Indeed I wonder if selling the likes of Bennetts and Griffifths are looking like good moves now, surely if our plan was to play 'youth' then they would stay thinking they'd have a chance of first team football. Not for this thread though sorry.Last season Poch repeatedly played the likes of Sissoko and an out of form Aurier over our highly rated academy prospects but now all of a sudden the youth are the answer to all our problems. As others have said, it's clearly out of necessity not choice. I would have no issue at all if Poch had looked at the young players in our academy and decided that we didn't need any signings due to the quality coming through, but that is clearly not the case as we have been chasing signings all summer. Just very, very ineffectively.
Already done announcements held back to appease fans for the DL perfect nett spend transfer window?I dare not imagine if this came to fruition...Really need to see some of these contract extensions signed over the next day or so..
Still plenty of time for that.I'm surprised Levy ain't sold no one from the back end of the team - Imagine his face with a net profit from the transfer window!
Plus we have to try and keep the energy up over the whole season as we made a meal of some games last season. Not sure whether it was due to missing the kind of midfield player that can offer us something different when we are finding it difficult to break teams down or it's something that Poch can coach into them. Maybe Moura is partly the answer.Time will tell.

Igijedi said might one be one didn't he?

So to someone as well connected as igi, the signs were there days agoThat "one" was obviously Grealish - and that ain't happening anymore.
So your entire argument is that we have 3 good CB's (4 if you include Dier, but appears he will be needed primarily in midfield next season) and we only need 2, because only 2 on the pitch at once. Brilliant.
How is being "tired" (fatigued) after a long season and a long world cup an excuse? It's simply a physiological fact.
Whether you sign a player or not does not change the physical symptoms of fatigue in human beings. Wtf?
