A deeper lying playmaker is something we really don't have at the club at the moment so if that's Gomes' role then I genuinely can't see why people are unhappy.

Fine people want an attacking player, but don't let that cloud your views over our other signings which have definitely strengthened the squad.

I don't think they are.

I think people are just saying we need a player with pace in our team because it would transform our attacking options. It's not a slight on Gomes' ability.

We've had ITK posts and reports that Poch has wanted a player like that for two years.

I think the fans can just see us ending up without addressing that problem, and they think it's more important than buying another central midfielder.

Gomes and Llorente would be decent and make us deeper. Hopefully GKN comes good in the winger department and hopefully Lamela gets back sooner rather than later

Thing is with such little time and Gomes and Llorente not announced it isn't over yet, however to expect anything beyond these 2 is incredibly optimistic. When was the last time a PL club signed 4 players on deadline day? If it happens I wish I took the odds earlier in the day.

Great job today though over my 5+ years on sc this is the first deadline day I have not had one moment where I have not been able to access SC. Although I understand we haven't had much itk (where are all the itks) to cause a killing of the servers I'd imagine the numbers browsing are still insane!.
