I'm basing my disappointment on Poch's comments and the bench we had last weekend. It's painfully evident we need some variation in that attack and Poch confirmed that, letting four players leave with the belief that we are bringing in a player that will match Poch's requirement. Instead it appears that we have gone all scattergun, scrambling around for anyone who may fit that direction and it looks like we are going to come up empty handed.

I'm not writing the season off, far from it, and I'm excited about the CL again. But most people feel that their is an opportunity here and there's a chance we are wasting it once again.

Nope, those two scenarios aren't analogous at all.

And I wasn't talking about how much is spent, I frankly don't give a shit. I could build a team I'd be happy with, with no players costing more than 15 million. Not saying it would do well, but just illustrating what I do and don't mean.

Ah I see, so it's only a good window if they sign players you want them to sign and if the club was smarter than you and got good results from the signings, it still means they were wrong, right?

A transfer window is implicitly about improving a team's result for the following season, whether that's a single signing or a dozen is irrelevant. What we as fans deem as the right signings are irrelevant because and I'm not sure you understand this, but we know fuck-all. After all considering the reaction to the Alderweireld signing, I trust the guys in charge far more than the wishlists of frustrated fans.

Now, if the team stinks it up then yes the window was a bad idea, but to pre-emptively call a transfer window a bad idea just because the club hasn't done what you want them to is the epitome of entitled.
