Oh and before the season gets underway and the revisionists raise their voices:

We could win every single game and every single competition from today onwards and this transfer window still have been a bad idea. Just because something turns out OK, doesn't mean the original 'plan' was a good one. If Hull City win the Premier League this season, it doesn't mean those responsible for transfers at the club knew what they were doing.

Boufal, who many here wanted, rated and would have been pleased with, went to Southampton...and we have signed noone...just let that sink in.

The funny thing is I do this to myself every year. I think..we've sold Chadli and Mason, Boufal has gone to Southampton, we must have someone lined up... and yet...here we are again...just like last year with the striker scenario.

You can just see us failing in a pathetic bid for him next summer if he does well

The lack of ambition is such a shame. All the other clubs going for top 4 have spent big. Those below us have spent big. Yet we are going in to a season undercooked again.

I just dont understand our strategy or long term aims. Yeah i get we are building a stadium but we committed to that prior to champs league money and the new tv deal. So surely there is a surplus to spend. In two years, we will have a great stadium but an average team to watch. If you stand still and everyone else progress, then you get left behind.

The only thing i am clinging to is JJ being quiet is a sign that we are still busy...

The big 4 needed to spend big - we left them behind last year for the most part and deservedly finished above and beat (most) of them.

If we have left ourselves so short that we fall from grace this season then I will rage but until that happens I'll continue to be positive and upbeat about our future.

Our outs are not considered by me to be worth crying over right now and I have bought into our youth setup so I am all for our youth to be given the chance to step up if need be.

There was so much crying on here last season when Onomah wasnt getting game time by the same people who seem to just want to buy players that will inevitably block our youths progress.... It doesn't make sense!!! Its like some people just want the entire world and aren't willing to make any compromise.

So so so few teams have looked any good in the first 3 games of the season and if you expected us to hit the ground with all guns blazing then you arent paying attention to the reality of the situation.

If you want to sulk and act like the end of the world is upon you then you have every right..... I just think some perspective and a bit of self respect is needed by some

hertyid: To say a contract wasn't offered is laughable.
Whether or not he comes, we made every effort. If a player is reluctant to move, there is not a lot you can do.
Madrid were definitely happy to let him go.
It's not midnight yet. I've heard nothing either way to say Yes/No since last night.
Let's not hang ourselves just yet.
Does he work for SSN!

Maybe we were never going to announce N'koudou ? He will just appear on the bench against Stoke as if he was in the club for ages...

By that logic then if we spent £250 million and got relegated that would still make that transfer window a 'good idea'. You cannot rate a transfer window on how many players or how much is spent, you rate it on how the team performs moving forward.
