I'm just hoping it's the one position we're still looking for and not all three on deadline day

I do hope we as a club are not just hanging out to be a player's second choice. We need players who appreciate playing for us and actively choose into our long term plans like Lloris did. We need to enquire, make our offer, agree terms and set a short term period of time for the player to agree or back out. I don't like this idea of players waiting for top clubs to come in before making their decision. If they've had no contact already, they need to show a bit more respect than that to us and we need to show we're big enough not to chase and chase after players who don't really want to come to the Lane. I think we did set a deadline with Berahinho, hope so and hope we do with the cdm we're after.

I know what you are saying but let's not forget that the players we are trying to sign aren't our first choice either. If we could sign the entire Barcelona squad we would. Obviously we can't so we move down the list and get the best players we can. It's exactly the same from the players side.

Totally agree about setting a deadline though. You'd assume a logical date would be the first game of the season but I doubt its that simple.

Who gives a shit if we're second or third choice, I'd happily wait if it means we get the right player.
There is one DM on the market who could wait out the window and pick his club.
Please come here please.

But in the transfer window you don't know whether any more viewers are coming. And you won't know until deadline day.
or until they realise nobody else is coming or lose their nerve because you have another property to view. The thing is that they have a small fortune in their hand now today at this very minute and all they need to do is close their fingers and its done thebigger money that might be in the bush could fly away at any moment.

Yep. And that one CM is Paul Pogba. But he is not the player we are after. So if this player is listening to his asvisors about him being anle to pick his next club, he's sorely mistaken.

Fed up with Levy's policy of only signing players that actually want to join. It really limits the quality available. Unless we start kidnapping players or forcing them to sign at gunpoint then we are destined for eternal mediocracy and deadline day scrambling.

I'm happy to wait until the deadline day (or preferably just before the Everton game) for potentially a top quality DM. Seen enough of Bentaleb, Mason and now Alli to think we are covered suitably for Stoke and Leicester, Dembele or Dier can cover too if needed.

The need for dynamism up front is more pressing and seems to be on the cards.

Better off chasing a target that can improve us than just buying Plan S(tambouli) for the sake of it.

This sounds familiar to MS, waiting for a player to make their mind up before being left empty handed.

A continuing theme so far this window in relation to other targets we have looked at, of whom have all ended up signing contract extensions.

So some time ago some of the ITK pointed toward 2 players in the CF/WF role and a DM

Certainly sounds like that is what we are working towards.

Berahino has consistently been named. Unless we are 'gazumped' I see him being the most certain. We have definitely been in touch with him / his people.

Werner, N'jie, Bender, Kramer or a new name out of left field (like Ilaramendi) seem like the likely candidates for the other places.

Lots happens behind the scenes but I think it's reasonable to remember that it hasn't happened until it's on the OS. Or stamped here. Of course.

What else can you do if there's no viable alternative?

Fed up with Levy's policy of chasing players we've little to no chance of either signing or ponying up the money for should they even be interested in coming more like.

Last minute DM and only possibly should no one better come in for them? Brilliant.

Can anyone join in this spamming of the Transfer Rumours thread ?
