Anyways, its always been about money. Greavsie was a penny short of being the first £100 000 player when he signed for us. To think we are part of some noble cause is a bit laughable.

I personally wouldn't want to be bought out and win trophies man city and Chelsea style, the wins would seem hollow and imo wouldn't feel like we earned it. I know ALOT of people here would disagree with me but that's just how I feel.[/QUOTE
Until Abramovitch bought Chelsea in 2003 there was a reasonably even playing field where 7 or 8 teams had a chance of winning the league. Since then it's been all about money and without it you can not keep your best players yet alone win anything apart from the odd league cup and the gooners FA cups.

I reach 60 this year and the Mighty Spurs have only once won the league in my lifetime. It would be great if we at least had a shot of winning it again and unfortunately and you cannot do that without money being invested.

I don't see much difference to what we have now except hopefully an investment company that wants to invest. After all we are owned by ENIC who are an investment company anyway. Hats off to ENIC for essentially saving us and turning us around, but they have been essentially building up their investments value, which is what the Americans and Qataris will do but only on another scale, and to do that hopefully they will invest in the team.

I want a club that can hold on to the Bebatovs, Modrcs, Bales, Loris's and Kanes and build on them, not be forever fearful a big fish is gonna come and snap them up.Long gone are the days of us being owned by the local butchers family. I want a glorious future not a glorious past.

Petra means stone or rock, which means that Niger Petra will either be the Blackstone Group - an investment firm - or BlackRock Inc - an investment firm. People who know shit about investment firms will be able to identify which one is most likely.

It wouldn't be blackstone.

I think we do deserve it we got to where we are today by doing it properly! I'm 25 born 1990 iI remember nothing but 14th in the league Ramon Vega Andy Booth Trazzemeni or however you spell it Don't remember being better than Arsenal and the improvement I've seen in Spurs in my lifetime has been immense but we are Tottenham Hotspur our history is better than immense we deserve to be back where we belong! Somewhere along time we lost our way! I want nothing more for us to restore a former glory! City and Chelsea have no History but we do!!!!

Chelsea were there or there abouts before the Russian. His lump sum certainly helped them but they get labelled as having been gifted it rather than earning it.

Which is what I don't want to happen to us. Chelsea and city have not earned anything, they've bought it.

No. They were all but bankrupt. All their success was bought.

If it is Blackstone, we as a football club are in big trouble - despite all Levy's faults he isn't as focused on the bottom line as they are. Blackrock wouldn't be interested - they run a range of strategies but nothing that would entail owning a club. I am personally hoping for money from Middle East if we were to get an investment. I however am quite happy with the status quo in which we are building club slowly (stadium, training center and youth).

I feel hurrendous and can't quite understand the itk as I can hardly focus. Can someone tell.me if they are buying us or exchanging the nil for the pitch type thing? Am a bit lost and very slow today.

Yet you are happy to be owned by a man that was prepared to destruct our economy to enrich himself further?

Lewis bought untold misery to millions of Brits on black Wednesday, interest rates went through the roof, all because of Lewis and Soros
Are you seriously trying to compare that to the way migrant workers are being treated in Qatar?

It's like selling your soul to the devil so you can win things. Sure you will get what you want. But it will be tainted in one way or another. Is that really what you want? I know it isn't for me.
To be perfectly honest I'm past caring. We've just seen Chelsea win the league and Arsenal win the cup. If a deal with the devil could help us compete with those vile clubs I'm all for it.

Take no notice of her……..We get this all the time, this owner was a Nazi, that owner is a ****, I don't want him, them or her, for some magical reason or another, reasons which, if you dig deep enough, you could hold up about almost any potential owner. If someone wants to bump cocks over it, at least wait until its confirmed or something, getting dragged into a whole thing about whos morally bankrupt skeletons are worse than the others is really pretty tedious.

I didn't want ENIC cos Levy once ate a fucking Big Mac. Look at me, i'm morally superior*. Pffffft!

*I actually have the morals of a polecat :woot:

I've always been against a club affectively buying their success. And of course I deplore some of the actions of governments in the ME that tend to buy these football clubs.

However I'm also a realist, and I know football isn't just a sport any longer. It's a brand and it's a business. We need money to challenge everyone above us, and to get back into Europe. I'm also sick to the stomach that we haven't lifted the FA cup in 25 years. I'm also sick of seeing the Premier League trophy donned with either Red, Royal blue or Sky blue ribbons every sodding season.

I want success. We need success, but we also need cash!

Rock and a hard place, lads.

Before Abramovich it was Ken Bates boosting them just as artificially with borrowed money.

I appreciate the ITK tricky, but i disagree with the basis of your moral outrage. Are you suggesting that the Qatari's are the only ones that profit from this? Given the number of foreign investors in Qatar I don't think there are many groups that could say that they have not profited from it and therefore propogated it.

Exactly. We used to be known as the chequebook club back in the 60s. We won all that stuff partly because we spent more money than the other clubs.

Even more recently Gazza was a British record fee.

This idea that we are some purist entity beyond the horrors of buying success is fundamentally at odds with the reality of Tottenham Hotspur's history.

To me all this seems like an idea fans have latched onto as a defense mechanism to deal with the fact we are no longer the club that spends the most and as such we no longer win anything.

In any era the club that spends the most wins the most. When we were winning that was us.
