Don’t even understand the need for Pulisic. He’s not better than our other AM’s unless he was seen as an Eriksen replacement but they’re not the same type of player or he was being bought for mainly marketing purposes.

Still annoyed that we missed out on Sancho, his usurper at Dortmund. That kid is going to be a star. I wish some itk would shed some light as to why it seems we conceded so easily in his pursuit when we sold Walker to city.Far bigger ceiling than the likes of Moura. Would have loved him.
we are not owned by oil rich people bringing through players like winks and skip is or best betWell of course everythings difficult when you arent willing to compete on financial compensation and agent fees.

This is why I was a little against the signing of Moura at the beginning, I felt he was a good player but knew he would block off the chance to get a top player in that position or a player with a higher ceiling.
Watching the Poch interview it feels clear to me that, we need the stadium open this season in order to show potential stadium sponsorships the potential the stadium has as a naming rights investment. We need top4 and we we need a trophy under our belts with our current squad. Top4, Stadium and trophy and we can start to convince the De Jongs, De Ligts of the world we are the horse to gamble on and attract some sponsorship to pay for them.
But wasn't Moura considered to be a De Jong, De Ligt, Pulisic, once upon a time?
It's just the nature of football that you can't sign everyone.
We missed out on Willian and got Eriksen, for instance, and I think we won in the long run with that one.
Anyway, back to the ITK. Sounds like a quiet old January ahead for incomings...
We aren't potless either were not talking about buying a whole team just a class player or two to bolster our position.we are not owned by oil rich people bringing through players like winks and skip is or best bet
I have to keep reminding myself of this fact- we have been told the money is there by various sources but we have to be careful or opportunistic or even strategic with it. At least we are moving away from buying turds that we can’t flush laterI don’t think the ITK we’ve had is particularly disheartening in the slightest.
What many people worried about was that we were completely skint and had to sell to buy. If we were willing to do deals for Pulisic and De Jong, who both in their own right are £50m+ players, it shows that we have the money to spend if the player is right.
That 650m of debt is for a stadium that wont pay much dividends if we continuously stay stagnant at best. Gotta spend money to make money. And unfortunately, while it sounds like we can compete on transfer fees we are blown out by salary and agent feesI am longing for a Mr.Burns "Release the Hounds" type moment from Joe Lewis where at 81 he is sitting on his yacht and finally pushes a button and a massive transfer kitty emerges. Sadly its more likely to be a Groupon for Buy one get one Free on a Fray Bentos Pie.
Anyway....seems that we are where we always have been in that all the pieces have to align perfectly for us to get a target we want. With Pulisic it sounds like the fee was there but agents fees and Salary perhaps not. We will always be faced with this until either Levy has some kind of "born again" moment or the playing field itself changes or the club is sold to Jeff Bezos.Am stating the obvious but right now money talks bigger than ever in football and there in lies our problem. I am all for a well run business but looking at a balance sheet *isn't quite the same as waking up to find out we have signed Ndombele. One can but dream!
*And yes I do know the balance sheet aint exactly great right now with 650million odd pounds of debt but you get my drift.
My only concern would be our range of targets being so narrow. Is this because Poch is extremely prescriptive when it comes to players or could the scouting network be better?I don’t think the ITK we’ve had is particularly disheartening in the slightest.

The salary point is an interesting one - we have started to pay top salaries broadly in line with other big PL clubs, but we also know that Kane, Son, Lloris etc. are worth £100k+ p/w to us. If Pulisic (or his agent, anyway) rocks up asking for parity with Dele (rumoured £150k p/w), is that something we should do? Out of interest is there a FFP formula to work out how much we actually can spend with our turnover. Easy to call Lewis out to spend spend spend but there must be a fairly low sealing compared to other top country financed clubs?I am longing for a Mr.Burns "Release the Hounds" type moment from Joe Lewis where at 81 he is sitting on his yacht and finally pushes a button and a massive transfer kitty emerges.
