I cannot imagine Spurs would sanction to loan a player without an option to buy at the end of the loan period. We're not a feeder club to help train up other teams' players.

The only risk with the option is that the player himself decides he wants to go back to Barca. Fati was a wonderkid and if he rediscovers his mojo playing with us, then Barca could convince him that his future is back with them.

If you're paying 50m for Johnson and a season long loan for Fati with an option then I'd say the only risk is Johnson.
I like Ange squad building style in that he wants different types of players but it does make it very difficult for us fans to know how he plans to use players

Would much, much prefer Fati on loan with an option, personally.

He's the type of player you really want to test drive in the Prem first before you pay mega money given his injury record and the much more physical nature of the league.

He's got potential to be great but he's exactly the type of signing that could be a hugely expensive turkey.
