I think quite a few people are confusing how much time we've spent waiting/wasting for something REALLY exciting to happen with thinking we're in a shocking state right now...

I definitely expected a few more ins and outs but c'est la vie... and it's, well, us.

I think the early signs are still positive this season, if everyone keeps pulling together (and those at the periphery so far can drop their issues and get involved etc). Still reminds me of early Poch days. There's a decent vibe.

Do I charge my misspent work hours in recent weeks to @Rob by the way?! ??

“Negligence“.

The camel is extra fiery tonight.

12 Premier league goals (as they’re more relevant here).

11 from Bale. 1 from CV.

Dele has 1 more goal than he did last year with, *checks notes*, 1

You would hope Lucas and Berg would muster more than the 4 they got last year.

Your point is noted, however it is super super dramatic when you take away the Daily Express style use of stat.
You do know where we finished last season yeah?

This window was never going to be 'the same as all the rest'. Pratically every single club outside State owned clubs and Man Utd are dealing with the fallout from Covid. We have the Italian, French and Spanish leagues in tatters. The spending outside Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City are non existent. Arsenal being the outlier, surprising me with the money they have spent, Villa only spending what they have received for Grealish. Everyone else is cutting or being creative with deals. In reality the rebuilding has been taking place for a couple of seasons. We've added Hoijberg, Regulion (Who we pay for this year?) and Lo Celso. This season we added Romero and Gil and possibly Emerson. Our squad is already looking different from what it was under Poch. We seem to be seeing a plan being put in place by buying and developing young players. We brought in a keeper to be ready for next season when it seems Hugo is leaving,. We managed to get rid of some of our deadwood. Considering the constraints on the market at the moment that actually a decent and proactive return so far.

I do believe that we do have money to spend for the right players and targets we have identified. But for whatever reason not all have come to fruition and the club, seeing how we have players like N'dombele, wanting out on high wages (and every club suffering from the same thing, high wages and no where to shift players on to) aren't going to over pay or sign middle of the road players again. Our pressing issues have been alleviated a little bit by the promising displays of Tangana and Skipp and possibly as the season progresses, Sess. We're going in the right direction. The most important thing is, is that it seems, at the moment at least, that our coach is getting a tune out of players.

Yeah I do. And every season goes exactly the same way each year?

I respond to points made in posts. “Replace goals” was what I was responding to mate.

Not having a decent back up for Kane - how many seasons is that now?
Leaving a problem area in right back until the second last day of the window.
...........leaving it to last minute as per usual (same old shit).

100% agree!

Failing To shift deadwood such as Aurier, Doherty, Davies, Winks etc and leaving it to last minute as per usual (same old shit).
I'm not going to blame the club in regards to the outgoings (I really hate the term deadwood). We can't force clubs to buy these players and I really don't blame the club for trying to get the correct value.

We simply have to. History shows us what happens when we don’t. We end up having to play Dele as a false nine for example. I swear people’s memories are unbelievably short.

Those posters happy with the window have no leg to stand on during the season when it comes to bite us on the arse if they then start complaining.
It would be a bit frustrating if we finished the window without filling the defensive/forward gaps but it does go to show how difficult the window can be even with an experienced DoF. Moving on certain players was always going to be tricky as their value has decreased thanks to last season's debacle and/or their own shortcomings.

I agree with you and hey the window isn't over, we still have a day to see what happens, for all we know there could be some unexpected movements however I do understand why people are a little bit peeved. All summer there's been a lot things said which raised people's expectations.

First of all there was a lot of bluster from posters turning Paratici into a god amongst men and we were hearing how behind the scenes he was really making waves. Then we were hearing that being out of the champions league means that the board were going to be willing to spend the money necessary to try and break back in. Then we were hearing talk about several extremely lucrative sponsorships which meant that we were going to be able to go big regardless of the Kane situation. Then hearing that Covid had rendered europe absolutely broke and they were going to be forced to sell and it was a buyers market and that spurs were going to be licking their lips. Then we were hearing after Romero that the club was nowhere near done and hoping to still make big waves late in the window.

So I completely understand why people feel like we've been down the road of hearing hugely encouraging things which are difficult not to be excited by and now feel that feeling of disappointing when it doesn't transpire. I think after the manager hunt debacle peoples expectations were at an all time low but the noise coming out got people excited, I think without that noise then maybe people wouldn't be saying they felt they'd been here before. A lot of those now saying well what did you expect were also people who were also giddy about the news we were hearing so I do think it's a bit of a double standard when they have a dig at those letting their frustrations get the better of them.

This isn't the time for a window review, there's still a day to go and big things could well happen, after all that's why we hired Paratici, so I'm happy to remain hopeful and I'll hold judgement til then however what I will say is that each bit of business we have done so far on paper looks like a great bit of business, the individual deals. I just think given the noises everybody is hoping that we fill some glaring holes and give Nuno as many different solutions to problems he needs to deliver the best he can because so far he's shown he's deserving of the club going that extra mile to back him.
Is it possible to winner a post twice??

Mate you’re the one embarrassing yourself with a post like this!
Really? I'm not in full on panic mode because we haven't signed x amount of new signings.

The squad we have is more than ok. If we sign anymore before tomorrow, thats fine. If we don't, thats also fine.

Now explain to me how multiple posters moaning and groaning, time after time, in thread after thread, is less embarrassing than me getting bored to the fucking back teeth reading the same shit over and over and over.

We are a top 6 team and have more than enough of a squad to equal that or better that position.

Opinions. And thats mine.

Blind pessimism and blind optimism are both still blind. We've improved a few areas this summer but not nearly enough, maybe we wanted to improve more and couldn't because of other parties (Kounde saying no, Wolves not dealing for Traore, no interest in our players etc) but the fact remains that we still have a lot of unwanted players and a few weak spots, but also a few improvements on last season.

We've started the season well but penalties and misread freekicks won't last forever and we need the team to click soon. Hopefully we get a couple more deals over the line but whatever happens tomorrow, I just hope Nuno is happy with the squad at his disposal. That's all that matters. The good news is that we've started well and have a lot of things we can improve on with more time on the training ground.

I think much of the frustration comes down to no matter how much we love the club and believe its the ultimate destination for any professional footballer there's a lot of players who don't. Therefore just cos we batter our eyelids at them it doesn't mean we've pulled.

Aforementioned demoted player is an “asset”, just casting them aside is suicidal from a business perspective (yeah, sadly that’s what football is now) so you can’t really do that
It doesn’t have to be Ndombele. I can’t see why one more midfielder can’t be added. Drop
John or winks or a player who nuno doesn’t feel he will use

And we're presumably getting much better performances out of players who didn't perform. That 'terrible defence" still hasn't conceded a goal.
And the whole squad is very obviously much fitter.

Herc did say Emerson + 1 more.

We don't know who the 1 more is. I won't lose my shit, regardless. Who knows, we may have some youth players who could make the step up.

Great. Another meltdown. I'm guessing there's no new information over the last ten pages. At least we know what it would look like if that lot at AFTV learned to write.
