Have they not got the likes of Matuidi, Motta, Verratti and Stambouli competing for cm though? Are any of them out on long term injury?
Think id prefer a Wanyama type powerhouse than Rabiot though if im honest.

He is, but they tend to play with a three man midfield, so he's only just behind the preferred options.

They play 3 in CM and can expect to play around 60 games this season- they need him for depth and to provide a flexible option.
Would only expect them to loan him if they get a replacement in- although I wouldn't be surprised if his early season form has been a concern.

They've already signed Stambouli as their replacement for him. I think they'll hold firm about their 'no option' condition though, as he's still in their long term plans

Not convinced Rabiot is the left field signing. He's been linked for a couple of windows now and I think we so know we certainly had interest. Don't get be wrong, I would be surprised if we signed him but I was thinking of someone way out of the box
