I'd rather Traore over Diaz, he knows the league and can hit the ground running.

If we have the kind of funds that is being touted for Diaz I would of thought it would be better to invest them into a good quality CM
F*ck me. That's actually a sensible post, that really makes sense

The fact you've said he didnt say that, then repeated what I originally wrote.....
Context is clearly lost on you. He hasn't said 'spurs are messing about with the price and that is why I fear another club coming in' which is how you've worded it

I take Val's post to mean that Traore and Amrabat are close if not done but he has no clue about Diaz.

Not if we have plans to bring in someone we can't get until the Summer for CM.

I can't keep saying it enough. Think of the bigger picture boys and girls. This is being done over 2 transfer windows. We need X amount of pieces to finish the puzzle. It may be a bit of a hindrance in the short term not to get them in priority order but it might make things far easier in the long term if we get more difficult pieces in now because they are available now.

Why is the assumption that Traore is the player Conte really wants?

A few months ago he just happened to be the player Nuno really wanted.

Isn’t it at least possible that he’s a player Paratici wants?

So, Mr. Gold saying the Traore deal has been put on the back burner in preference for Diaz? Would hope we could seal both. Kinda surprised this is the case. Oh well. See where we are EOD Monday.

As for Val… what on earth is he yappin about? ?

I wouldn’t take much notice if that TBH. It’s the kind of move that we pull to push the Traore Prince down.

I know it’s not easy but I hope that we can get some of the outgoings done soon so the negotiations for the incomings would be smoother, as the days are running out for this TW.

Yeah seems so much more likely that he's a Paratici/Nuno target that's Conte is on board with, rather than a player Conte is desperately demanding.

What are the odds that after a protracted chase for Traore last summer, Conte comes in and instantly demands to Paratici "our number one priority signing for RWB should be....that exact guy you almost signed in August".

I'm sure Conte wants Traore, but I highly doubt he's pinning all of our hopes on signing him.

As long as we get one of Diaz or Traore I'll be happy. It's not like we're short of right wing backs though so not the end of the world if it's Diaz instead. Diaz sounds too good to miss out on.

I take the point of it being a marathon rather than a sprint in terms of getting ACs targets in but there is a massive chance at top 4, surely overpaying a little if needed to give ourselves the best chance has to be worth it?

If AC wants Traore, pay the extra £5m. If he wants Diaz, pay the extra, get it done.

I know this is simplistic and has a knock on affect but we need players now.

Big few days coming.

Perfectly stated. This sounds like one of those deals that popped up, somewhat out of the blue. Traore may have been Plan A. But should someone like Diaz become available, then he becomes Plan A. If memory services, didn't something kinda similar happen with Stevie B? We weren't expecting him to be available that January, and then he was.

Like Trix said, this is all about getting the right puzzle pieces together. I think someone like Diaz is probably a huge piece. And likely another five. All of whom Conte would be seen as preferred starters: LCB, RWB, CMx2, forward. I would also hazard a guess that LWB may be considered this summer as well, if Sess fails to convince by June. Which, based on current evidence, he's playing himself out of Conte's plans.

Regardless... I hope that the Diaz deals happens. Looks like a very special talent that can change again by themselves. Perhaps Conte views him as Spurs version of Hazard?

From what I've heard Traore isn't and never has been a money issue. It is not about us haggling over a few million!
