The stadium is bringing in ~£160k less per fixture than it is supposed to, because of empty seats.

Those three players are taking let's say £400k a week in wages.

By my rough calculations there's £25.75M per season off our bottom line, on those two metrics alone. It's not small change.

Sort those two things out and there's another £495k per week to play with.

The numbers I quoted from Swiss ramble were from the end of last season with no fans. I'm not saying it's cheap or easy. But other teams operate and survive with their income/wages percentage higher than ours, we have one of the lowest in the PL, I think we could survive until the summer if we had to bump it up?

See your point but Mourinho was promised significant funds and he was provided with what appeared to be broken promises.
Mourinho managed us through the worst of the pandemic, stadiums were empty, no money was being generated, no one knew when it was going to stop. You can’t use that as a stick to bash the club with, seriously.

Easy to gloss over that last part but if Traore is away (whilst terms with him may be agreed) the finalisation of the deal will need him at the table to sign etc. perhaps the lack of resolution is down to this as well? Appreciate all the news talks about us not wanting to pay the full amount noted and ideally want a loan/obligation but still if the players off a few days, nothing will be closed until he's back surely.

Would make sense, fully expecting this to drag on until Deadline Day, which is sooner then people realise.

Honestly I'm annoyed at my brain I keep refreshing the forums but I'll try and save you some trouble, absolutely 0 news has come out today.
It's like standing in the middle of a playground at dinner break and trying to make sense of all the screaming and shouting happening around you.

Agree and I was feeling the same as you especially with the farcical NES appointment :banghead: but with the Conte appointment I'd rather try and stay positive for this journey, however long it lasts.

If I'm honest struggling with EPL, FFP and top level football as whole???? And there's plenty of other things to get all bent up over. My expectations for this window are trust Fab & Conte to get a higher calibre of character through the door, to do the job Conte wants. As I said keep it simple :)

Au contraire, Mourinho said he did not need any fund for signing s as the squad he inherited was good enough. And then a global pandemic hit an we list £150M in revenue whilst still having to still pay our players.

Well I'll point you towards Dele Alli, or Paul Pogba so you can see not all kids that give you literally everything at 16-21 keep that same level of enthusiasm and professionalism once they have big contracts money in their pockets and a girl waiting for them at every turn they make. I'm not saying this is the case with Ndombele but sometimes things just don't work out in the long term no matter how much you check on their back story.
Exactly. There's only so much you can predict.

Wasn't there reports that part of the reason we signed Bergwijn was his personality and the family background he had.

Now we are hearing reports he is homesick. So there's only so much information scouts can go off, always risks involved.

I think all our expectations were raised for this January when we appointed Conte.

Guess we just have to temper them and hope we can crawl to a top 4 finish.

Then in the summer maybe we'll be able to attract better players. Don't really want to think about not finishing in the top 4, as that would be disastrous tbh.

question is, will conte temper his expectations? i’m not so sure he will.

What are the odds that as soon as one incoming is announced, that the subject will change immediately to "Where's the second signing?". And if and when that is announced the subject will become "Where's the 3rd signing?". And after that, the subject is, "it isn't enough.... Levy out!"
