It’s just so alarming that our starting 11, needs upgrading in numerous areas.

If we are to get 1 upgrade via PP, at least that’s something ??‍♀️

I'm not saying a CB won't come in, I just haven't heard anything at all on who we want for that position. Others are far better positioned than I am. It's been said before but with so much happening behind the scenes, we could bring in 3, we could bring in 0! It's a huge week or so for the club. There is now a real fear CL isn't achievable with the current squad so I feel we will get the deals done.

cheers for the info. We always sounds like such a reactive club, throw money when things have finally fallen over rather than planned fixes in earlier times, always penny wise pound foolish. If we get Porro, winger, CB and new GK we might have a chance of top 4, short of that it’s probably over, too little too late.

Well it’s good to hear they are concerned, they should be. Personally I don’t think we get CL without at least a CD or GK as well as Zaniolo and Porro.

I really doubt there are any GKs available in Jan who are of the required quality, so I expect we'll be hoping for an upturn in Hugo's form or giving Forster a chance until the summer. CB might be a bit easier but presumably we'd need to move one on to bring one in.

I think Porro would make a huge difference. We have no threat at all coming from RWB currently so fixing that will give our other attacking players more room and better service. Not sure about Zaniolo but excited to see what he can do if it goes through. I would expect Deki to start ahead of him if fit though.

These 2 and 2 CBS and we can salvage something from this season.
I'd take 1 top quality LCB. Dier can see us through to the summer but Davies/Lenglet are beyond salvaging.

I see we're doing the "save money taking it to the last day" ignoring that the points that we've lost due to their absence could make that quite moot.

It’s a real shame that the leadership of the club don’t seem to follow a continuous improvement mentality for the club. That’s what causes a reactive mentality like what we are seeing.

It also makes me wonder whether they literally wait for results of some important games (e.g. Arsenal, City) to gauge how we are doing before deciding whether to act.

Such a scary situation.
Despite being so in need of additions there’s a chance we might not sign anyone.

It seems that when there is a general malaise everybody focuses on themselves to the detriment of the club. This has happened a few times now with Spurs, especially when Poch left. The prospect of incoming investment seems more about personal fortunes and power plays rather than improving the team.

Conte is obviously licking his wounds and not signing a contract. Paratici has kept a low profile knowing a whole pile of trouble is coming his way and Levy, well is being Levy, and the board seem divided and rudderless. It doesn’t seem any better on the playing front either, the players are all looking to their futures and it is pitiful to watch.

I was hoping we would have used the World Cup break to get some players and come out fighting for the second half of the season. A couple of players now wil help of course, but the problems feel a good deal worse than last year and it seems just a sticking plaster over our gaping wounds at this point. We’re all hoping that a rabbit will be pulled out of the hat with an announcement of investment when we declare our results but it is becoming increasingly like hope over faith.

If we got a couple of decent CBs you’d hope Hugo would chill out a bit more. Must be like herding cats for him - no wonder his brain is fried.

If Hugo is 'herding cats' in this scenario, he should probably try not doing it with fireworks.

Got to be realistic though, not going to sign 2 world class CB's in January. Dier is the lesser of two (or 3) evils.
I think most of our problems stem from not signing at least one in the last window and also going for a prospect at RB instead of established.

Hopefully we can do at least something this window as we're fucked if we dont
