It is concerning that wlb says if no right backs go out we won't get porro, I understand 4 right backs is too many but the alternative is we have 3 that aren't good enough so how is that better
Especially as it's a key position
Concerning really but this is a consequence of poorly prioritising in the summer. Everyone knew our biggest issue to our first XI was both wing backs and LCB. We ended up with an aging free transfer, a youth prospect the manager didn't want and a loan.

Now I understand that this is a negative spin on transfer business we were mostly happy with before a ball was a kicked, but are those the actions of an ambitious club? Especially when these are the most important positions for our current manager.

Now we find ourselves a few months down the line, similar issues but a few more added on and we are (seemingly) doing nothing about it.

Granted, I'm sure more is going on behind the scenes than the press know but I'm also relatively confident we will end this window having not being able to do what we needed to.

January is a shit window to be panic buying in, but clearly if we aren't careful we are going to go into the summer needing to sell a dozen players and buy more than that. We need to start taking action now.

No point signing anyone unless we know who will manage the team next season. Get it sorted, get us on a path
Absolutely this. Spending 40m on Porro/Dumfires to add a 3rd dedicated right wing back to 3 left wing backs (including Udoguie) would be utter madness if you were at all doubtful that the manager might not be here for the long term.

Well it's a chicken and egg situation with Conte isn't it? If you don't give him players he isn't likely to stay. It's a self fulfilling prophecy if you refuse to back Conte until he commits, and then he doesn't have the players he needs and we fail...

The pressure is all on Levy though - ball firmly in his court. Conte can walk today and get another top job in six months, he has hardly any pressure on him at all really. He is hanging on to see what Levy does. Conte holds all the cards here.

And the loser is always us. Like when Mourinho was sacked before the League Cup final, we were literally giving up on winning that, relying purely on adrenaline and some bounce from Mason and lads. Always utter stupidity from Levy.

Tell him he can have the players he wants but if he walks he has to buy them back from us.

We're not going to strengthen (with anyone the manager actually wants) this window are we?

Seems inevitable at this point.

We hadn’t even been linked with bentancur until the last 48 hours of the window last January so it’s impossible to say that.

My take on things as they appear to be atm is...
Would any player want to join us with the mess that Levy has yet again instigated.

Don't usually post in this thread so apologies if not allowed but I just wanna say fair fucking play to @Trix

First to mention shortly after the WC that Levy was getting cold feet re Conte and also his thread a few weeks back about Levy about to embark on his usual tricks which we are now seeing with the press pieces against Conte.

Impeccable sourcing. Credit to you and the other ITKs who may have shared similar in house.

Yep spot on from @Trix He used to be quite the defender of Levy and ENIC, admittedly a lot of the criticism was unjustified and overboard but has been very clear and vocal about recent bad behaviour and it seems to have worked out exactly as he said.

I did mate because I fully believed the company line that the stadium and infrastructure would be in Levy's own words "game changing" as far as what we would be able to do financially. I could see exactly what they were saying had a lot of merit to it. Well nothings changed at all, absolutely nothing. We are still run by a billionaire(or close to) who goes into a supermarket and comes out with bags of shopping covered in yellow stickers.

Totally agree with you here mate. The last time i can remember us going out and acting like a big club was the Modric deal. Identified a player signed the player.... not weeks or months of conjecture in the media (as it is with Porro) and not a last minute.com surprise like VDV or Rodrigo

Just a reminder that there are ample threads to talk about Levy and ENIC, I know we've had a bit of ITK and all that but how many places can the same discussion be had. So please try to think about that before you go off on a rant :D
