Well nothing in any of the papers on the Fabiano story

Yep, no mention of fabiano as far as I can see too. This week has become like the run up to the man city match, so much anticipation. I'm in hong kong so will be up till 5am watching us play YB - it seems that so much is riding on this one match..

Do transfers ever get announced on Sundays? Looks like we could be looking at another day dragging on!

I'm getting terribly confused! Does this mean Fabiano etc would be available to play in future CL matches?

They're only available if they go out at the preliminary stage, so if Seville win their next match Fab will not be available if they lose he will be available.

We should wait and see if they lose the tie before buying. If they win he's not worth buying as he can't play in Europe.

So presumably it will be no great surprise if some potential signings may be delayed until the position is determined.

Only if their clubs go out in the current round.

I think its been discussed elsewhere and the ruling suggests that if Sevilla are knocked out of the CL they drop into the Group Stages of the Europa League making Fabiano ineligible anyway.

Sorry to be thick about this. Ineligible for the CL or just Europa? If it is both it makes the new ruling rather pointless surely.

I'm pretty sure I have no idea wheter he can or can't play if they go out now, I am just confused

HOwever, I wouldn't say we shouldn't sign him if we can't play him in CL. Firstly the PL is our bread and butter and our only route back in to CL next year, there are also two domestic cups we could feasibly win.

If he is deemed the best possible striker we can sign and would suit/improve our team the most I think we should sign him anyway.

Personally I would rather sign the striker who is going to make us the strongest team we can be, as opposed to signed a lesser striker who will have a less significant impact on our team just because THIS season he can play Champions League football with us.

Obviously in an ideal world we would sign a striker who will both improve us to our maxium potential and be able to play in the Champions League, but my personal opinion is that regardless of CL eligabilty we should sign the very best availble striker we can.... the man who can make us the strongest force we can be amoungst all the availble targets we are looking at and if Harry deems Fabiano to be that player we should sign him and just swallow the fact we will have to play a weaker striker force in CL this season.

Am surprised the Fabiano story was not in the paper. Usually sports jounalists will troll the fan sites to get some juicy ITK to base their articles. It's probably due to it being Sunday and most of the articles were written on Thursday before their weekend piss up, wait till tomorrow

or maybe it was all bollocks
When did that ever stop a paper running a transfer rumour story to sell papers?

It is very odd considering the strong links on this website alone that no paper decided to run with it even as a minor rumour to fill a few column inches.

i really hope you're right but the UEFA regs are so 'woolly' regarding the CL play off round that i expect him to be declared cup-tied even if sevilla go out and we progress

The Parker/Keane swap makes sense if we feel the need to have another CM (although after being linked to L Diarra Parker does feel like a let down) and moving Keane along would make space in squad to bring in a new striker (although I am not entirely Keane on seening him playing for West Ham *terrible pun I know*)

With such little time left in the window now, and a massive massive game on Wed to focus on I have decided to stop concerning myself overly with who we will bring in now and let the chips fall where they may.

As much as Keane's character annoys me, I'd rather keep his football abilities than bring in Parkers. We are amply covered in CM now with a bit of everything (Palacios, Jenas, Modric, Huddlestone, Sandro) and Parker brings nothing much that we don't already have.

If it was Diarra then you'd have to think twice. But it's not.
