What boxes does he tick ? He's not the type to play the drop deep, hold up, lone 9 like Kane does in Poch's system. He's not a wide forward. His all round play is pretty one dimensional. He's basically Defoe with 3 more touches a game and 3 less offsides.
The only box I see him ticking is the one many of our targets this summer seem to be ticking. The half decent but limited box. And again, I think we players here - even Chadli could play the role better and has a similar scoring record per 90 min - who can fill the remit better.
Also like Defoe, he has long periods of goal draughts and not scoring at all. And when he doesn't score, he doesn't do much else. Like Defoe.
Not that he's shit exactly, not was Defoe, but both are/were very limited and neither really fit whatever system it is Poch is trying to implement.
Would be a 'for the sake of it' signing in my book. But then what do I know, I got negged into oblivion for saying I didn't want James McCarthy because he's a bit limited and only a 'quite decent' player. People just want signings, no matter how well they fit us.
