It's the dip of the roller coaster. Everyone was really happy last week. It goes quiet for a few days we get some itk of some un glamorous players and everyone gets depressed then angry. In a few days we will sell/buy someone or be linked with someone and we will all be happy again.

Might be an idea to give it a few days rest (yeah right).

But helder Postiga scores in Spain. Giovanni dos santos does. It's a great league but you just don't get your stokes who park the bus teams. How if we play the formation we do is he ever gonna get he's confidence up with Kane playing? Poch won't change he's formation and soldado is doubtful to get infront of Kane. Therefore selling and purchasing a player that can play a winger roll if chad or lamela have a off day but then if needed can go up top for Kane is key. That player can get confidence and rhythm off the wide forward roll for when call upon to lead if needed. Soldado won't ever be used wider either.
I was just stating why Poch might want to keep him! I believe we should cut our losses and move on but was just saying why Poch will like Soldado

Fellaini?!

You people are collectively screwing with me, right? Right?!

Also, FFS Soldado, get your self respect back and go home to Spain to be successful again. You're just depressing me with your sweet natured incompetence here. We already have a mascot and you sir, are no Chirpy, evil or otherwise.

Exactly this.

Some people need to get out the kitchen. They can't handle the heat.

Anyone that thinks Fellaini is not an upgrade on Ryan Mason needs their head tested. There's always frustration that we don't improve the starting 11 and then we get linked with a player like Fellaini and people are underwhelmed. Personally think wages would be an issue but as mentioned by others he offers us something very different and played us (and others) off the park during Utd's decent spell.

Soldado is infuriating because it's clearly just a confidence issue - it's not like he doesn't get any chances, he gets loads but misses them, despite being a notoriously superb finisher in Spain. If he could score three games in a row from open play he'd probably net 20 over the course of a season - the problem is his confidence is so shot the chances of him getting those three goals are pretty much zero.

Which Fellaini are you thinking of? The one who was excellent last year and for his entire career in Everton and Belgium or the one who struggled under Moyes for one year?

What really impressed me was the way he blossomed in a rigorously tactical regime under Van Gaal.

Soldado has always been a great striker if the team crosses the ball - until now we haven't had that.. until now.

Exactly.

Ultimately with the transfer window it's probably not worth getting overly het-up until it actually closes. Whilst we all want things sorted early, we're not a club who can pay a premium to do that, so it will always be hard.

If we get to September and we haven't covered the areas we need then fair enough it's the right time to criticise. But the frothing at the mouth every time we get even slightly linked with someone we're not 100% happy with is all a bit silly.

The arrogance on this forum astounds me. Fellaini was one of the most dangerous midfielders in the Premier League while at Everton and the Man U fans were so made-up he signed, they all turned up to Old Trafford wearing wigs on deadline day. He didn't quite hit the heights at Man U, due to the massive rebuilding job they've been doing there and the more defensive role he'd been asked to play under Van Gaal, but he was still a regular in a team that smashed us at Old Trafford and probably out played us at White Hart Lane and finished above us and in the top four. Yet some on here are saying he's useless and we shouldn't even be interested if he's available. The same fans who probably brand McCarthy as cr**. The same fans who would probably have been made up by signing Imbula, even though he hasn't even been as good as Stambouli was in Montpellier's championship season and the last highly-rated yet unproven outside League 1 midfielder we bought before him has just been dumped on Watford.

Fellaini is perfect for Pochettino's system, he gets around the pitch, he's an aggressive presser, he always puts the team before himself and is an excellent and intelligent tactical footballer. If the manager tells him to sit and play it simple he will do that. No ego. if his manager tells him to go upfront and play centre-forward, he will do it and do it well by making a nuisance of himself. If his manager tells him to shadow a midfield playmaker he will do it and stick to him like glue.

He is a great defender in your box at set-pieces and a massive goal threat at the other end.

If he was available at our price and wage range, we should be all over it. He would be a huge improvement and would bring proven pedigree from the biggest club in the country, yet some on here claim he is not good enough.

Ridiculous.

I just think he's a brute and i'd loathe seeing him in a spurs shirt. Sorry. If the answer to a question is Fellaini, then that question should just not be asked in polite society.

You raise an excellent point regarding service from wide for Soldado, but i'm inclined to think it's more a mental block and a collapse in confidence than anything else - you just know he'd start knocking them in following a change in scene.

We need a DM, is Felliani a DM? No, we don't need Felliani, we need a DM

The only times he's played well for United and Everton were when he was playing further forward in an advanced role. I don't think he's as bad as some people are making out, and, in fact, I quite like him, but he's not what we currently need. So I'm not against a potential signing because he's 'shit', I just think he's not good enough as a DM.

are you seriously taking about fellaini?? whilst a decent option off the bench, i dont think for one minute he is suited to poch's system and your opinion of him getting round the pitch would have the two utd fans i work with (season ticket holders) laughing their tits off, he isnt mobile in the slightest, nearest thing i can describe him to is thudd.

Don't think most people have been 'arrogant' about it.

Most of the concern is around the type of player he is, rather than thinking we're too good for him or anything like that.

I don't think he's cut out to play in a midfield 2, and I don't think we play with the sort of attacking player that he's very good at being.

Good player but not a good fit. IMO anyway.

We've already got one super tall player on shit loads of wages. We can shift him and then afford another. Simple innit?
