Any other positives regarding our signings are just made redundant by leaving us with one striker. Its like buying a new house and telling everyone how amazing it is..... Massive bedrooms, 2 lounges, a huge garden, pool out the back, double garage etc.....oh yeah, only problem is there's no roof.

It is a bit like building a nice pretty house with swimming pool and the builder not fitting a roof and that he cant fit it for another 4 months so you have to hope it does not rain, we can't take that chance

Kane gets injured our season rests on a man who has not settled in this country yet let alone this league and is not a natural striker

I've been plagiarized :cautious: :)

In all seriousness, we have a brutal set of fixtures coming up in September and our new so called "strikers" haven't even settled into the club yet. We're going to have our hearts in our mouths every time Kane goes down.

Where are the ITKs for the "we tried.....other clubs unreasonable.......Levy is furious with so and so........already got great plans in place for next window....lessons learned......Poch is happy" post window ITK ?

Isn't midnight JJ time ?
Take it all a bit too serious did u?

The Enic mentality is seeping through to the fans, we are considering it a good window because we sold players who weren't going to play anyway.

We weren't going to use the money to reinvest in players.

I would rather that we still had stambouli, Holtby and even Huddlestone as they could provide cover for midfield and in Thudds case pass the ball to feet.

We brought in a lot of money from sales this year, as we have done for the last 5 years but TV money is now higher than ever.
So why are we acting like we desperately need to get rid of players.

Feel very low about spurs at the moment

Sorry

I don't disagree, a striker should have been brought in. But if the club are balancing for years because of the stadium thats coming, I'm cool with that. It is one of the biggest things ever to happen to our club.
Can anyone substantiate this myth that our low net spend is resulting in some form of stadium slush fund because I haven't seen any evidence in our financials which aren't showing any form of large cash balance building up ?

The only bright spot from this TW is that we might get to see some more of our academy graduates like Pritchard and Onomah and quite frankly after the 2013 "Beatles" disaster I'm more excited by that than some fancy sounding Carlos Kickaball that SC gets excited about on the back of a 3 minute YouTube highlights reel.

Just googled Kane goes down and my computer blocked the site. The day goes from bad to worse!!

The thing I'm still struggling to get my head round is how we ended up with Berahino as the one and only target at striker. I know we wanted Ings and Martial earlier in the window but they fall into the wing-forward hybrid type of player which we managed to sign in both N'Jie and Son imo. It's just baffling to me that we kept banging on the door with Berahino when Peace clearly wasn't playing ball and had no alternatives to consider. Were we that inept at identifying suitable players or was Berahino the only one we thought we had a chance of getting? Just all seems so confusing.

Maybe the club are just being prudent, thinking about contingencies, potential overruns and so on, it is the biggest investment we are ever going to make.

I'm all for the youth being used, but there's currently only 2 strikers in the academy right now though, Shayon Harrison and Ryan Loft who are both pretty far off being first team ready. Only 2 midfielders possibly ready to come in too and that's Veljkovic and Winks. Would never write any of our academy boys off but not sure where the next first team player is gonna come from.

Not at all find it all pretty funny actually, get as caught up as the next SCer by their assurances that "we've got this" while knowing it always ends the same way. That's why I like the final ITK coup de grace post TW. We really need to be consistent in our treatment of ITK, either it's all a bit of fun and should be treated as such, without reverence or it isn't but we seem to be bi-polar, reverential during the window but then when it doesn't pan out we come around to this "it was all just passed on in good faith so chill out" mantra.

I'm not advocating COYS style ITK roasting but the whole "I don't believe the bad news because JJ is still positive" stuff is just beyond silly.

Great post in its entirety.

The section above reminds me.... Dimitar Berbatov is a free agent and can be signed outside the transfer window. Apparently he's in Brum discussing a contract with Sherwood.

Let's dump Adebayor's contact and sign up Berba for a season. He'd be the best striker we've been linked with all summer....

I'd love to see Berbs back however he is totally not a Poch player. Do you think he will train hard and run about the pitch pressing?
we still have Ade - it will be interesting if he gets a shirt number after all that.

Ade has had a longer break from football than I have! What a lovely deadline day to come back to. Comfortably familiar like a nice pair of slippers. Marvellous.

Butt pats all round.

I'm really sorry but that just doesn't make any sense at all. Either we've been prudent and have the results to show for it or we don't. If we want to be prudent in the future then that will apply yo future TWs not the last 10.

The money flowing into the league now reminds me of the jump in money coming in at the start of the premiership era. Sugar failed to see the opportunity there and a lot of teams stretched the gap or overtook us who maybe had a bit more foresight. That set us back years imo and weve finally made our way up to the right end of the league I'm hoping history is not going to repeat itself. I know the nucleus of players who helped secure fifth last season are still here but there's no guarantee that they can repeat that especially under more pressure and no safety net of big signings to fall back on.
