Re: the info about the focus on outgoings before more incomings - I imagine it could also be about getting it done now while there is interest, and not necessarily just about finances. Unless the buying clubs want to leave it late as a negotiation tactic, they’d probably like to get the players in for pre-season just like us.

I'd imagine the deal would be spread over several payments so we wouldn't pay the fee all up front on him.
Surely that goes for all our purchases. I thought his fee had to be accounted for last season even though he started off on loan.
I guess we can say it's phase 2 now, the selling phase, and the last few weeks of the window we'll be ready to pick up the specials if and when they come up and they will come up, they always do at the end of a window.

@s_purs why have you off topic rated this post? The point of it refers directly to the ITK that we had about outgoings and testing resolve later in the window. It may have been made badly or you may disagree but that doesn't make it off topic.
I don't usually bother about ratings I just assume they're fat fingers but I noticed you have done the same to other posts too and it looks like you are on a mission. Please explain.

I was sure the Reguilon and Romero purchases were due this summer in some form so we will need to consider that. I'm sure it was due to covid times we pushed those ones back as had to get creative. It seems pointless to try work out the budget though, all deals are done over installments and typically have add ons. All I know is we have done some great business on incomings so maybe allows flexibility with sales. We don't necessarily need to bring in big money for each player we sell now.

Whats our current outlay looking like?

Peresic - £0
Forster - £0
Bissouma - £25 - £35
Lenglet - £4m Loan Fee
Richarlson £50-£60
Spence - £12-£20

So current liability of Circa £90m

And we had funds of £150M (+ potentially any sales)

No doubt just cause we have it, doesn't mean need to spend it. But appear to be recruiting well, whilst leaving some cash in the bank if we need it
The 150 mill was to add on to what was already in the transfer kitty, which you omitted. I believe we are actually better off than you wrote

I like DK's reference to FP "clearing the decks" in the Ticker. It's due.

Well that's the case for many deals. When people say we have spent x this window doesn't mean all of x is paid in one go.
For example, apparently we still owed money on Sanchez going into this window

Worth pointing out there are a lot of clubs looking to clear the decks and recoup some transfer funds. It'll definitely be a buyers market in the final month of the window if you are willing to take a punt on players fallen out of favour for whatever reason. I expect it to be mostly loans just to get them out the door tbh.

Hopefully we can get money for Reggie and Lo Celso.

What about Romero, are we buying him this summer or what?

I hope so
It was a loan with obligation to buy this season (no option) IIRC there was a chunk up front in form of loan fee as a way of Atalanta bypassing whoever they owed money for him, plus we couldn't buy him last season as he was still on loan or something like that.

You would think it'll just be staggered like any other transfer (perhaps there's more upfront payment due or something)

Kulu is a two or three season loan with an option to buy for an already agreed fee (which I'm sure we will take up) if we chose to sign him permanently this Summer he's a few million cheaper than if we sign him permanently this upcoming January or next summer, I'm guessing we're deciding (or may even decide before the window shuts dependant when our incoming business is concluded) that those few million are better put towards another signing this summer rather than penny pinch, for all we know not signing Deki this summer paid Forster and Perisic sign on fees or a bulk of Spence fee or a lump of Romero's fee (I can't recall the numbers on Deki)

This is one to keep an eye on as the window progresses.

We like him, he likes us and would like to join but it's not an easy deal to do.

He's their best player IMO, only has 2 years left on his contract and they're in desperate need of money. He is likely to fetch more then Tielemans so from a financial perspective, it makes the most sense to sell him. Rodgers doesn't want to lose him but their current situation means his opinion is basically void. Now that all sounds positive but they're currently very reluctant to sit down with us and I imagine they're trying their best to sell Tielemans first. However, they need to get a move on and if nothing looks like materialising with that, then they may have no option but to sit down and negotiate with us.

I must add that we have options for the creative mid, there are a few players we are looking at and I think most on here would be very happy with bringing any of them in.

The obvious pros for Maddison are being homegrown whilst also being proven in the league.

As mentioned, this is one to keep a close eye on. Leicester are slowly being forced into a corner and whilst we have the money available, we will definitely take advantage of teams who are struggling.
