Oh god now you’ve done it.
In theatrical circles you have 'The Scottish play'. You can't say the real name of the play for fear of bad luck.

In this thread we have our own version. There's a name that cannot be spoken for fear of the discussion taking over the thread, not to mention the speedban that will follow. Anyone uttering the name has to log off SC, go into whichever room the wife is in, turn around three times, spit on his or her tits, swear loudly (we suggest **** **** prickface ****) then send a PM asking, no begging to be let back in.

The PM should be addressed to me and contain photo or video confirmation. Just for verification cos I know what bullshitting bastards you are.

To me something doesn’t add up. Conte has clearly given the green light on Gil leaving on loan, and has publicly said that he expects a replacement in. Gil would not be allowed to leave on loan in the first place if Conte viewed him as important/ready to be a key member of the squad.

So if we don’t get an AM/wide forward in to replace Gil and he therefore stays, surely he doesn’t magically become part of Contes plans.

The talk is keep Conte happy, which is the exact thing to do, yes. Surely not replacing a player he clearly sees has no part in his squad isn’t achieving that. I find it hard to believe he doesn’t want 2 players for each starting spot he can rely on, currently with Gil, I don’t think he has that.
I don't think there's a question of loaning Gil and not replacing him, just who the replacement is going to be. It's clearly going to be Dan James going by the mood of the ITKs.

Thanks to the ITKs once again (although Herc's recent post is a bit concerning). I'm quite happy even but not ecstatic with this window. We've picked up 2-3 starters in weaker positions which will make the whole team better, there's a stronger bench, team morale has improved considerably, and Conte has had more time to work with the players in implementing his strategy as well as developing their skills and mindset. Add to that the addition of a professional like Peresic and his willingness to mentor can only help the dressing room. Any additional signings are a bonus on what at first is one of the best windows in recent history. The glass may not be full, but it's pretty close from my angle

Does anyone think going by what A&C just said about Hercs post that him not believing everything the club put out as maybe the are saying we are finished but in reality Herc and some of our other ITK'S think the club might be playing games and are indeed negotiating with some signings at the minute.
Or am I just deluding myself into thinking lessons have been learned and we aren't going to leave ourselves short considering how mad the fixtures are going to be this season and the toll it will take on the players.
I took it that way to, ITKs have been very happy all summer so thought it was tongue in cheek.
Then A&C stirring the pot kinda confirmed it for me ??‍♂️

Or is it just wishful thinking

Meh, we've made a good number of signings and it's been a good window. I think people always want more in transfer windows. Everyone's mood would suddenly be perfect if we go out and sign a player we don't need, in a position we don't need, whose a big name player for a lot of money, even if it would actually be a terrible signing for the club.

On Hercs post I don't know. Largely because I have no clue about how the club is trying to fool anyone.

I hope it's some nonsense that stems from us being unwilling to spend certain money for certain targets, which is something that has to happen, to an extent, at all clubs. And as long Conte understands that it isn't such a big deal. Free spending teams without oil money tend to go badly.

But what would be bad is if it's something that more specifically relates to Kane or Conte.

We've had a really good window and there's no unwritten rule a transfer window has to end in a "flourish", we're just programmed that way as that's when we looked for bargains or last minute deals in the past - not to say one can't pop up now either of course.

The squad is much improved with most of the players we wanted to leave having left, morale is strong and Conte has a really good group of players to continue moulding.

Talk about will Levy do this will Levy do that is absolute wasted breath at this time - how long is a piece of string? I fear a lot of our fanbase will never truly "enjoy the moment" and will instead always clamour for more like it is some kind of god given right that we should be that way, lest we forget where we were not too long ago... I can often see where rival fans come from when they talk about our overbearing expectations, the players should give us that belief we shouldn't be bestowing some kind of right to be somewhere after all.

Basically it's Football, 22 millionaires kick a ball for 90 minutes and it's entertainment, just enjoy the ride

I really wish some of us would wake up. I’m not happy, and don’t buy everything the club wants us to believe. Sorry for being so blunt.

Something about James Maddison?

edit - this wasn't meant to be a question aimed at Herc, just putting 1+1 together from @Archibald&Crooks post and coming up with a meaningless number

Not really sure what to make of today's vibe in here...

I think most of us thought there were still a couple of top quality players coming in after the early business, but it's still been a strong window.

We've still been one of the biggest spenders but Chelsea and Man United have gone nuts, Newcastle and Forest have "interesting" ownership and West Ham, well, I've no idea how they're keeping up their splurges without selling...

I'm a bit surprised if this is it for us, but I think there are enough signs of something very exciting taking shape within the squad we have. ?

Very underwhelming end to the window, especially given we did all our business so early.

This time next summer we’ll be facing the same problems, with regards to outgoings who are out on loan , & needing a CB/AM.

You can't have it both ways?

Had we signed three players this week and none in July or August you'd have said we waited too long.

It's not about how many, we wasted most of the Bale transfer money on players that were not good enough, it's about the quality of the players we have brought in.

Those returning from loan at the end of the season will be another year towards the end of their contracts and if they do well will be transferred to the loan club or another.

None of the players on loan can impress any club by being on the fringe of the squad or not involved at all.

It's been a great transfer window, and we are only four months away from adding quality not quantity. None of us know what deals have been set up for the New Year, but i would bet that one or two may already have.

I think we need to remember we're in the CL too, if we get a couple of injuries at the back we are nowhere near the required level.

That is a risk all teams have to face, it's relevant whether the team be Man City, Spurs or Copenhagen.

What ever happens I'm not dissapointed. When players like Bissouma, Richarlison, Lenglet and Spence are fully integrated we'll have a very well balanced squad. You can clearly see that there's a long-term strategy in place with the squad and I'm fully on board the Don Fabio train.

We were never going to breach the gap between the top 2 and us by spending massively in one window anyway. An increase in spending was needed, but it was always going to be a longer process, where Contes world class coaching together with shrewd purchases, and most importantly the right purchases, elevates us to new heights.

I have no idea honestly. I genuinely don't understand how anybody can be unhappy with the business we have done this window.
It's because people set their own expectations too high. I swear some like the excitement of a new transfer more than the actual football.
