Wasn’t there some suggestion we were going to be ruthless & cancel or buy out some contracts so we could thin out the squad?
Yeah, I believe that was POK, but when he was asked about it a little while ago, his response was he didn't know what was going on and had been made to look a bit stupid by the club because nothing had happened....or something like that.

This has all come from an agent who knows Charlie, plus has ties to the club. Apply salt and make of it what you will....

Things are a bit of a mess right now as far as the build up of the squad are concerned. It's all getting extremely complicated. If we sell Kane the plan is to bring 3 players in and the clubs we are talking to want definitive answers so they can prepare themselves for the new season. Trouble is we have more players on the books now than we did before the window opened, and we knew we were massively bloated then. The logistics are a complete nightmare. Ange is speaking daily to Harry and there are murmurs are starting to bubble up that he might decide to stay regardless of whether any deal is struck. His wife has been having second thoughts about moving and Harry is not happy with how Munich haven't tied this up already considering how enthusiastically they've pursued him. With a new baby very close they wanted things settled and now the thinking is if it happens Harry goes over and the rest of the family stay until after the birth which is far from ideal.

Munich have been in contact throughout regardless of what we've heard regarding deadlines, and we have been happy to entertain these talks in the hope that a solution is reached for everyone.

My opinion is this is super complicated on numerous fronts and as such I'm not sure how this happens if Kane has indeed set a deadline himself of Saturday evening, there are just too many moving parts.
Heard the exact same last night in an agent meeting with my lad last night as well.

went on to say similiar RE reprenstatives for Kane messing up last years move to city 🤷🏻‍♂️

I imagine that was always going to happen at the end. No way you let players go if there's a chance to sell.

That sounds just about the right message to send to Munich.
Harry will still go but you need to act fast.
Spurs are still willing to deal but you need to act fast.
Other clubs won't hang on indefinitely so you need to act fast.
If this goes tits up its all down to you.
The ball is in your court Munich.

I’d recon contract cancellation is relevant only at the end of the transfer window. During the window there’s no point to cancel because at least there is a chance that someone would buy our players.

Prefer it if we sent them no message at all and just kept Kane

Sounds to me like we really really need to get players out aside from the Kane situation. Which we obviously all know and have known for some time but with only a few days until the start of the season it’s starting to cause issues. It’s a shame that this will likely drag on until the end of the window. Really at some point we will need to start accepting whatever offers are on the table even if they are below Levy’s asking price. I know Rodon leaving on loan is a step in the right direction but unless there’s an obligation to buy we will be back to square one again next summer. I guess tho we can’t force teams to be interested in our players so maybe a loan is the best we could get. Just makes you realise what a mess this squad is overall.
Yep, I think this is where we are right now.

Forget trying to fleece clubs £15-£20m for Tanganga et al - just move them on, even on loan or at much more realistic market valuations because quite clearly over the years we've insisted on massively inflating the selling price hence why we've now accumulated the bloated squad.

I would be delighted if Kane stays. I don't know who those 3 players are that we plan to bring in if we sell Kane, but if we do keep Kane then I think we're just one top CB short of having a very competitive squad.

Regarding the bloated squad, Ange has now had enough time to run his eye over each player and if we haven't already now is the time to have the brutal conversation to tell those who are not part of his plans. We need to trim the fat and need to help find moves for Rodon, Spence, Ndombele, Dier, Hojbjerg, Lloris, and maybe some others.

If we were Hugo wouldn't still be here.

There are levels. Long-time servant and club captain who gave his best years to us... it won't look right if we just cancel his contract. We need to help him find the right move. What does it say to players looking at coming to Spurs if we treat loyal players in this way?

Easy fella. What part do you disagree with that I’m a non head? Or move to the player thread? He chose to leave his club for a bench spot at best at Spurs. Then can’t hold his place in France??
Actually it's a good recruitment tactic. We ask the best young potential to come to Spurs and if they don't come good because we are a massive club with massive expectations, we humiliate them on social media. That after all is our job as 'fans'. Not like we're tar and feathering them and running them out of town is it?

It’s down to their agents to find interested clubs. Fact is there is 3 weeks left of the window so I can imagine their intent on getting the right move rather than the easiest - no point going somewhere you won’t play or at a level below your abilities.

Exactly, ultimately it’s not just about the transfer fee, it’s also the wages and having these players hanging around the dressing room knowing they aren’t part of the managers plans. Ultimately the squad mentality is going to be vital if we hope to achieve anything and having so much uncertainty floating around the team atm is not going to help us build an indestructible unit. We need the whole squad to be 100% on the same page and pulling in the same direction. Sacrificing a few mil here and there on sales will ultimately benefit the team more then holding firm to an unreasonable valuation imo.

I mean if the latest from Trix is about right, then surely we have to set a deadline irrespective of Harry's personal deadline.

I mean, come on, that's about as messy as you could imagine.

They key part for me in that is the Clubs we're talking to want time to get replacements in themselves.

So if we leave it late to sell Kane there's a chance we'll miss out on some of the players we've identified to bring in and we'll be running around desperate, paying over the odds, near deadline day.

Or we'll end up not doing much.

If Bayern haven't stumped up by close of business on Friday that should be that.

You'd assume that the agents of the players would be trying to get them moves away as well rather than them just sitting around waiting for someone to offer money for them? And DL very much needs to accept that he's not going to get the money he paid for them or even close. But its better to have the low fee in the bank than keep paying wages!

Would be very ironic if, after all this, the reason Kane stayed was down to our incompetence in the market and failure to sell players.

I didn't get that at all from the post. Kane staying is if Bayern don't offer the right money in time. We're not signing the 3 extra (or whatever number) to prepare for kane going.

Levy obviously wants to line up the 3 deals before we sell Kane though and our stupidly bloated squad is becoming an obstacle.
