Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Prof on COYS re Kane:

"Despite playing on the tour, respecting Ange, appreciating our fans, working hard in training, etc, following a candid conversation with DL the expectation within the Kane camp is that he will not be a Spurs player by the time the window closes."

Well I hope it is well before the window closes for obvious reasons.

How dare you Tuck! ;)

It's not overly surprising to be honest. If we can get over 100m from BM then I think most would take it now.

As I said in the Kane thread yesterday, I have come to terms with it and think we will benefit in the long run.

What annoys me though, is if he is going why is he playing in the tour? Everyone and their mum know he is off so why try and hide it. All we are doing is getting him fit and firing for someone else.

I would rather we give the guy who is actually going to be starting come the first game of the season the minutes.

It has to be Bayern, doesn't it? Apparently another scheduled meeting on Friday, I can't imagine they'd be meeting again if they weren't desperately close to agreeing a fee.

I just hope that A) it's sorted as swiftly as possible, and B) we get paid handsomely and Levy doesn't buckle in fear of not getting a penny next Summer.

All things considered I think Bayern is probably the place I'd be happiest with him going, despite their recent antics.

Good news in that a decision appears to have been made. Now we need to move on and get someone else in who can take us to the next level.

I'm OK with that as long as he goes abroad. Not his fault but the disruption around him has the potential to derail our start to the season (again) and it will continue until his contract expires. Ange wants players who are 100% committed to the cause, and Kane isn't, otherwise he'd sign a new deal. Added to that, I think we'll be OK with a more athletic front man in Ange's system and we already have more goals in the team with Maddison. I'm so sick of the constant media pressure for him to go somewhere else. Grasp the nettle, fuck the media and move on.

Have we got a Frazier Campbell waiting in the wings? That solved all our problems last time we lost our star striker.

No that's not all we're doing, we're keeping his cost as high as possible by having him on tour. If you leave your player home then it doesn't leave you in a good negotiating position. Its not like he's not a professional anyway. We need to get as much as possible for him.

Maybe to avoid a massive furore in the press? Or so that our negotiating position isn't weakened? If Kane's not playing it strengthens Bayern's hand a little.

But yes in terms of building a first 11 it's not ideal.

My opinion over the last few days was that Kane would be leaving. My opinion hasn't changed and I've still heard absolutely nothing on the situation. What I have now been told (and it's not groundbreaking), is that if/when Kane leaves, we are extremely interested in Muani.

Bad news would be him being steadfast on running out his contract and moving to a PL rival for free.

Selling him this window is more like middle of the road news for me

It'll be a sad end if he goes, of course, but he did absolutely everything that could reasonably be expected of him last season to keep us in CL/European contention. Aside from the City thing, he's had an exceptional time with us, and it would be very hard to begrudge him making the move - especially if we make a 9 figure sum off the deal, which we can then use to help address other problems in the squad.

That sounds to me like the club are pushing it as much as Kane now. IMO I think Harry would have been relaxed to play another year and go on a free.

Key now is to sell him abroad and then reinvest well. Utd not having a striker yet worries me. There are actually decent striker options on the market with Vlahovic and Kolo Muani available (albeit at high prices), plus Toney in January. I wish there were more obvious wide attacker targets out there as I think Son and Richy would be good as 9s in Ange's system. The only sure-thing one I can think of is Kvaratskhelia at Napoli but it seems he is not for sale. Maybe a punt on Chiesa or Sancho in addition to a striker?

I really thought this would be the one time Levy's stubbornness would come through and he'd give Ange 6 months, maybe there was some truth in the Joe Lewis story after all?

He's not just playing he was made captain after the conversation happened. so if that is true that really is madness.

That was the ‘expectation within the Kane camp’ two years ago as well. It doesn’t matter much if no one is willing to pay for him.
