Read the second post in this thread mate. What else do you think “poundland versions” could mean?
To me it reads like DL is playing with fire by not getting deals done that can be done thinking he can wait, which would result in panic buys (not on the list, not necessarily cheap) or poundland (way down the list) versions.

I thought this earlier in the week;

Maddison; one year left on contract, a deal to be done, Levy can see a lot of value and goes for it.
Solomon; a free agent (kind of), the perfect kind of Levy deal.
Vicario; a hell of a lot cheaper than Raya, a good deal.

The centre backs though are not good deals, they require us to put some effort in. Tapsoba is expensive and VdV is young and perhaps a risk. These are not the type of deals that Levy likes to sanction. We'll end up with Lenglet for £5m because Barcelona are desperate for someone to take him and Levy will see that as a good deal too.

Well in that case, we're losing Kane, no matter how big of a contract we're offering him.
It really doesn't make sense that Levy would be willing to throw the kitchen sink at Kane (which @Trix himself said), yet then show such a limited ambition elsewhere in the squad.
That's never going to be enough to persuade H to stay for another year or two.

I know that I shouldn't be surprised by Danny boy but if he stagnates the defence yet again, it really is beyond belief.

I really don't understand how we'd be prepared to offer Kane a record deal, only to scrimp elsewhere because he's never going to sign up for that.

I'll be honest. As of now If we don't end up short yet again, with poundland versions or last minute panic buys I'll be surprised.
I really can’t understand how mistakes haven’t been learnt from.

It also ultimately costs more as you end up buying more than once.

When someone asked what had changed, Trix replied not much. I read that to be no news, i.e it's gone quiet. You could argue that what was meant that the club hasn't changed. It's open to interpretation, but I'm not gonna start asking ITKs questions.
I think Trix meant Levy. As in nothing has changed, same old Levy.

Why is Levy wasting money on Scott Munn? Everyone knows he's the one in charge. Is there anyone left who doesn't really believe that? The bloke really should just announce himself director of football and save us the facade.

I can't buy into this. We've spent tens and tens of millions of pounds over the past few years outside of the way you say we operate here.

And we've had some sort of European football in those years.
So because we don't have European football for the first time in umpteen years, the idea is to believe Daniel Levy is reverting to a state of only buying players that he feels he has won a deal on, based on his history of...not always doing that? From more than a decade ago? It's some SC fanfic that seems to have reared its head over the past few days.

Just going to wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks to be honest as the paranoia here is nuts and I won't be along for that ride. If the ITK is that Ange wants to evaluate the players then I support him in that, as backing the manager is what we want from the club so its the least I can do.

I'll worry about being upset when we actually haven't done the business that we needed to, but with the understanding that we're not going to fix all of the problems in one window, because nobody does, and even Conte didn't get promised that. Anyone expecting us to is just setting themselves up for disappointment, which seems to be a few.

Got up to be greeted by a new thread- Got excited
Saw blue background- Even more excited
Read what ITKs were saying- FFS
C'mon Spurs- we aint even at the first pre-season game and already the mood is changing. Everyone knows what we need, most people can see who needs to be moved on (some even players seem to have made it clear that they want out), yet they were on the plane!
So the ruthless cull has just seen Winks go out and a captain not taken to Oz to sort his future. This looks really shit from the outside and well- this IS Tottenham and it's doing my head in!
There's still a month- we can only hope and it's the hope that really makes it hard to be in this position yet again!
Lessons have been learned- NOT! FFS
Off out to enjoy my day off- I hope things improve very soon

Sorry but your take on things is the wildest SC fan fiction going.

We need an overhaul at centre back. Romero is literally the only serviceable player in our squad in that position.
Assessing Sanchez and Tanganga and dier and Rodon should not take long.

Whether or not people like the booing of Sanchez there were tangible reasons for the response (eg his performances)
Signing either vdv or Tapsoba (or even tosin) as a priority should be essential business IF levy has any ambition to qualify for Europe again.
It’s not greedy or entitled to expect the club to fix this glaring weakness asap

2 Centre backs. None done in the last 2 weeks with ITK expecting 1 to be done.

None.

Again.

And not sounding too confident now.

I don't think this is anything to do with SC fanfic mate.

But don't worry your little head over things, I'll worry for both of us xxx

While trix info does not bode well for the season ahead. I have to feel sorry for big Ange he left a job at Celtic were he was adored and successful to come to a club were no matter how hard he tries he will always be doing it with both arms tied behind his back because of Enic and Levy.

While I think if given the tools and being allowed to do what he wants to do with the squad he could definitely turn things around and be a breath of fresh air through the whole club but whilst these people are in charge we will just keep going backwards and watch them keep adding money to their bank accounts.

Remember as far as Daniel coys is concerned a couple of wins and they will be ok.

I appreciate the ITK but I refuse to believe we won’t get 1 top centre back in.
Granted to late in the window maybe but I’d be astounded if we don’t.

I still think we sign VDV.

I've made my thoughts known in the VDV thread. It's taking the last little bit of patience I have left but I hope we at least end up with VDV added to our defence by the time the window shuts. If not it would be simple and wilful negligence at that point.
