Question for @Rob . Was thinking about how great it is that so many have set up monthly donations over the last couple of days, and made single donations etc.

Seeing as most of the lurkers obviously come to the ITK/Transfer sections , is there no way you could set the site up so people can't access those parts of the site unless they've made at least one donation?

Wouldn't have to be much, heck a quid would do, it'd soon add up, and every little helps, no? Just a random thought (y)

Off for the night now, so I'm not ignoring you if you respond (y)

So you mean charging someone something for information provided? Like a business? The tax man would love a bit of that money. ;)

If things get more desperate that'd be the plan but as it stands we'd rather not as there are lots of reasons people may not be able to donate.

“He’s got good feet and is going to be a great asset for the club. He’s an unbelievable finisher. I call him ‘Defoe’ because that’s how he is. He loves it. He calls himself Defoe now."

"He calls himself ‘Defoe’. He follows him on Instagram and he thinks he’s Defoe!"

"I love watching Jermain Defoe," Berahino said.

I'm now seriously concerned about his mental state....
Thanks for educating me!

Did the mods ever consider making the site subscribable, say £5 to £10 a year? I know I would pay it if I had to.

Agreed and - if it meant the longevity of SC - I'd pay double that as an annual subscription.

How many users do we have on here who visit on a daily basis and interact, post etc? Active users, if you will.

Because if they are anything like me (and would struggle to cope without SC!) then I'd imagine most wouldn't blink at an annual subscription fee.

However if the majority % of members on here is predominantly made up of lurkers and people who just come back for the transfer stuff then maybe a subscription to the site wouldn't appeal.

In any case, there'll be a solution as this place is so important to (what feels like at least!) so many people.

Just 'Netflix' it and have a "free month" for newbies or maybe they can join and have their first transfer window for free, or maybe even season depending on what the stats for take up suggest.

I doubt it would be easy to abuse since the mods here seen very quick to know when a duplicate account it created.

Just realised some of my donations for the last window were outstanding. £50 paid. Cheerio Kaboul and Soldado :)

£40 for not buying a load of average squad blocking nonsense and giving the kids a chance. (y)

Once I find how to do the monthly I'll set that up.

I'm sorry but I don't think subscription is the way forward.

Subs = expectation of content.
SC is great because the relationship between the community and the mods is fantastic. All the content is driven by us.

If you make this site subs based you will lose members and I believe too many, at which point the content of the site suffers as a whole.

Advocating/promoting monthly dd donations remains the best method as it puts the onus on the member to decide what's a fair return for their investment, something which will likely vary quite largely from member to member.

Edit: I am also a big believer in the Internet being as freely available to all as possible and not locked more and more behind paywalls. I totally understand and respect the money and effort Rob has to go through and thus believe it's down to those who want to and can afford to do so to help out, but please keep it as freely available as possible for as long as possible.

Subs = expectation of A&C being a pervert and Yankspurs loosing it at least once every other day

Click the box which says something like make this a monthly payment. As far as I am aware you need to do it on a computer or request desktop site on your mobile. The option didn't appear on the mobile version of PayPal (y)
