Hernandez has done the job before, in some pretty big games even. Not exactly his forte (especially the back to goal stuff) but as an emergency option still an improvement on our current options.

That would be the advantage of an Austin or Llorente. The potential points gained from him as a super sub is pretty tempting though IMO, and is a big advantage of his.

But the back to the goal stuff is vital and we need far more than an emergency option. We were fortunate that Kane was fit the whole of last season.

Hehe. I can imagine Levy in the style of those American pickers (treasure hunters).

How much for this little pea?
10 mill
Levy lifts it up and take a closer look - it's got a few scratches here and there and the collarbone is broke. It will need a bit of restauration...
How about one mill?

We don't though, because Soldado can't poach the goals. Are we never allowed to sign another goal poacher because of Soldado? That's absolutely crazy.

I also love how Soldado is referred to as a goal poacher. He's not, if he were he was, hewould have poached more goals. Regardless of what people say about him in training, in matches he is positionally excellent, but his finishing is simply not good enough, and if he were a natural finisher he would have pushed through that dip.

To be fair to Soldado, he was an excellent finisher in Spain. However IIRC from looking at him he didn't really score the scruffy tap in style goals that Hernandez has time and time again. They were mostly excellent volleys and low finishes from around the penalty spot. It's a bit like how Defoe was regularly referred to (mostly by pundits not us tbf) as a poacher, when he clearly wasn't.

Hernandez has a knack of getting on the end of things in the six yard box, whether excellently created or just lucky ricochets, I genuinely don't think we have had a player with that knack since Lineker.

I really dont know what to think of our new scouting setup and Mitchell if we are looking at Evans and Hernandez.

Hopefully we are just on the wrong track here, as why would there be such a dire need to keep that a secret? And why would we look at a pure poacher type of player in our squad? We already have one and thats not working to well:/

Disagree, Kane doesn't "create his own goals" like Bale's one man show used to, he gets in intelligent positions with good runs and makes a clever finish. Hernandez is perfectly capable of doing that.
Kane most definitely creates plenty of his own goals.

Dovetails beautifully...

The Third Man - Vienna
Vienna - 80's song by Ultravox
Ultravox - lead singer Midge Ure
Midge Ure proceeded by John Foxx
Foxx = Fox in the Box
Fox in The Box = Basil Brush, sorry I meant Hernandez!

And on the subject of Basil Brush, I'm just waiting in light of the Savile affair for the revelations to come out about Basil. There's something just not quite right about that guy - Just a little bit too good to be true I guess. :coffee:

I agree, and I think a player like that in the squad is just as important as someone who scores the spectacular!

Quite frankly, I'd rather have Basil Brush.

Scores more per minute than some of their other attacking players, that see much more playing time. Why leave him on the bench?
I would imagine it's down to the fact he isn't a fashionable £30 million+ player named Rooney, Berbatov, Van Persie, Ronaldo, etc etc etc.

It may be more, it may be less, but he is undoubtedly a good player, and maybe, just maybe sometimes a good player needs to be given the chance to become a brilliant player.

I bet @Rob and @Archibald&Crooks are pissing themselves at people going mad dog crazy at the thought of buying Johnny Evans, which is never ever going to happen. Time to turn on the common sense mode in your brains.
