Maybe the secret would be how close the deal is, not whether it is on or off?

Remember the cabbage solutions had one player (the joke signing) ruled out due to the signing of Alderweireld (therefore McCarthy/Mirallas are ruled out). They were also to have been hardly linked in mainstream media or ITK. Supposedly the better cabbage is an attacking player that should be exciting. So the strongest guesses seem to be:-

Timo Werner (although no idea who the other player was)
Fernando Llorente - Savoy/Turin link
Javier Hernandez - Jonny Evans the joke signing no longer required. Red and Green (Mexico/Utd) cabbage.

Although to be fair the support for the latter two would be far from universal. However that would then fit the underwhelming tag.

Did anyone link us to any other exciting attacking players that I missed?

I thought that the most likely solutions to the cabbage cryptic were Alderweireld/Suarez or Kramer/Son. Given the joke link, the latter was more probable. If Kramer is not going to happen, then Son is the remaining cabbage (the better one according to JJ).

Probably cobblers, but that's my take on it.

Guys lets not rehash guesses. If I understand it correctly, we have several users currently sat in front of their screens with a thousand yard stare in their eyes, face muscles twitching and hands hovering over a loaded revolver. Think of them….for the love of god will nobody think of them?

Personally I'm thinking the Hernandez link is most likely now, but would take Llorente and would have a trouser incident if it was Werner.

Well call me cuckoo if you must, but I take the quote as a revealing hint that I'm still in with a chance of some sort of a medal for Werner & Rudiger - or being pelted with rotting cabbages.
