Won't deny that I thought of the bromance with Ali & Dier (Romeo & Juliette) and it's your life Eric .. ie if you wanna gamble on a switch etc. I keep referring back to Poch & his vision, to retain my faith in the forward motion we're on.. feel Eric is spurs tho

Could the cryptic be a reference to Harry Maguire joining the Foxes today? Romeo & Juliet being a reference to Shakespeare & Leicester?

Someone else mentioned it, wonder if the shift at the end of last season:
1. putting him in the middle of the back 3 and then
2. partnering with Big Vic
were Poch's way of acquiesing to that wish while not hurting the team
There actually isn't a massive difference between being the DM that splits the CD (in a 4) and being the CDM in the back 3 and stepping up with the ball

I wondered if the change to utilise Dier centrally and Toby on the right, rather than vice versa was deliberately significant.

I like Trix's take on it, more a cautious 'watch this space' than outright 'he's gone'.

For what it's worth, I can't see us selling Dier. Maybe bringing in Veltman to free him up to be utilised in the middle rather than out at RCB.

Links to Seri (CM/DM) just as strong as Veltman rumours though. Confusing window ahead :)

why on earth would we have a cryptic for an outbound player? can't see the point in that. to the best of my memory, i always recall cryptics being about players we're interested in. the purpose of it being surreptitious is to throw off other interested parties! or keep the source a secret.

Dier playing centrally between Alderweireld and Vertonghen makes so much sense. When we're attaching he then moves up to be the defensive midfielder behind the attack. Three at the back is a new formation and the central role in defence is crucial. Dier would play both a midfield and defensive role. In this way he's be improving as a player and the team would have an asset that would be getting better and better.

Trix says that he wants to play midfield. He'd be doing so. And with a coach that values him and in a team that is going places.

I really don't see him moving.

If he does then I can't see it being a good move for the player - nor a good move for the Club.

If it were to happen, would Alli file for divorce?

I don't see it happening, but at the same time if it were to go down, I imagine there is a reason he is avail and due to the fact that I am not privy to that information, I trust in our management.

Dier to me performed a role this year, but he was no where near his influential self of two years ago. Think there is a real leader in there, but I do think he lacks the agility to play in midfield in the modern pressing game. He worries me when pressed and he doesn't have the technique a DM needs IMO. I love his range of passing though.

Life of Brian = Nice movie.

Romeo & Juliet = one of a Series of plays.

Thus: John Michael Seri (Nice).

Hurrah! I've got it.

There's no way we'd sell a versatile, young, promising England capped central midfielder to Manyoo at a point in his career where he has at least ten years of top flight football ahead of him. Not where he could become the lynchpin of their midfield.

It's not like we've ever done that before, is it?

Micheal who?

Oh.

will be seriously pissed if we let Dier go and will be upset if he wants to go and starts acting up as we uncovered him and Poch got him in England squad, I believed Dier would be Tottenham captain in a few years

If he goes, we have to seriously worry about Alli, they are so close and there is no doubt if dier goes there is a risk over Alli

What will Poch do if we again prove to be a selling club when we get so close, we need Levy to sort this out and pay the players what they deserve and show the club is moving forward with this new stadium

We cant think we can rebuild every few years as we will never win anything if this continues!

Tottenham is bigger than 1 player (Dier) but its what reaction it can cause, Toby/Alli/Eriksen all making noises in recent weeks, let Dier/Walker go they will start to consider their futures
