Another slow ITK day, so not much to go on i'm afraid. Here's today's update, such as it is as I have been pretty busy lately. In fact, I was working late last night when I received this text from my mrs:

'thespacebuttonisfaultyonthisphone.
Whenyougethomepleasegivemeanalternative.'

And as I eagerly rushed home, I couldn't help but wonder...

What the hell does 'ternative' mean?

OK OK on with the ITK...........
First of all we had news that our new reserve, reserve goalkeeper was taking his 4th medical......

Good Journalism, thats all pretty much bang on.

in response to:
Tottenham have opened talks with Aston Villa over a £20million move for Ashley Young but their bid to sign the winger could be scuppered by his £75,000-a-week wage demands.
It is understood that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been talking to Villa executives for some time about a deal that would include striker Robbie Keane - valued at £11m - as a makeweight.
Young, 25, has made it clear he wants to move to White Hart Lane and Levy has told the player’s representatives that the Londoners are willing to offer a five-year contract that would match his current £65,000-a-week package.
Yet the England international wants a £3.9m-a-year-deal – or £75,000-a-week – that would make him the highest paid player at Spurs, above Luka Modric and Robbie Keane.
Levy is unwilling to break the club’s tight wage structure and the transfer remains some way off completion, particularly given the added uncertainty at Villa Park following Martin O’Neill’s resignation.
Spurs are hoping Young will lower his demands and that the carrot of Champions League football this season – assuming they overcome Young Boys Bern in a two-legged qualifier – will work in their favour. The winger, who signed from Watford for £9.6m in January 2007, has less than two years remaining on his Villa contract and has so far been reluctant to discuss a new deal.
Tottenham are hoping to make the former Watford player the first of at least three big-name signings that manager Harry Redknapp says he has identified to help Spurs push for the title after their fourth-placed finish last season.
There is no indication that the potential sale of Young had anything to do with O’Neill’s decision to walk out of Villa Park just five days before the start of the season, but the Northern Irishman was known to be concerned about losing another of his star players.
Villa would be reluctant sellers of Young, but they have been actively considering the prospect of selling him in their negotiations for Keane, who wants first-team football following his loan spell at Celtic last season.
Redknapp made two bids for Young last summer and has maintained his interest as he believes the winger’s pace and delivery from the left could help Spurs be more of an attacking force this season.
I'd quite like us to sign him. All the talk seems to be where he would fit with Lennon/Bale in the side, but I think it's more of a squad thing now that we're (hopefully) in the CL and they'll all get plenty of game time.

Tally Ho!
Tally Ho! Was what the toffs shouted out during a fox hunt. It was no great leap (well it was for some) to come to the conclusion that it was Huntelaar that The Goat was on about.

The papers today tell us that.......
Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland is putting his proposed move to Aston Villa - as part of a swap deal with Villa's James Milner - on hold as he waits to see whether Tottenham will make a late bid (Mirror)
Seems Villa Park isn't des res for a lot of players these days
Also in the Mirror......
Tottenham are looking to offload striker Peter Crouch - the England man was offered to West Ham as part of an unsuccessful proposed swap deal for Scott Parker, but Liverpool and Everton could be interested. (Mirror)
No we're not.
The Mirror also say that
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been to watch France striker Loic Remy and Nice's £13m-rated man is now Redknapp's number one target. (Mirror)
Of course he has........:)

Yesterday, I also thought i'd try and be nicer to the wife and in an effort to be a gentleman, I stood aside and held the door open for my wife. Two minutes later she said, "Can you please fuck off while I'm having a shit?

That is all. Keep whoring.

Id be happy with Ireland, Richards and AY. Scott Parker and Belllamy are to injury prone and they are getting on a bit.

Im going to trust Redknapp with the selling and buying of the strikers, I just hope Gio is given a shot.

I reckon now that the internationals are done with, things will come alive again. Itk on Ireland would be nice, I like him, but once again, I just can't see City dealing with us. Some development of yesterdays goat info would also be welcome, as would some insight into what's going on with Young

It'll be interesting to see what happens after the City game. If we're going to sign one of their players it would happen after the cut off time for our match against them.

Not sure they'll sell us Ireland for anything realistic though. We should just get Hleb instead. He'll probably be cheaper aswell.

Bit harsh on Niestelrooy's allround play (maybe Owen's a bit too).

Defoe, Bent and Huntelaar are the main examples of old fashion poachers I can think of who operate in the top leagues at the moment. It is an anachronistic role IMO.
No more harsh than it is on Huntelaar's all round contribution.

and that would be the same Defoe and Bent who scored 42 goals between them in the League last season.

I don't see a problem with a player like Huntelaar. We have plenty of creative players to do all the work outside the box. What we need is someone who is going to be in the box when they create chances, and put those chances away. Both Defoe and Pav are capable, but neither is consistent enough.

It's also clear that we're after a left sided player, most likely to be Young or Bellamy. So rather than a number 9 who will drop off while the wide players get ahead of him (ala Ibra at Barca), we need a top quality out and out striker to be in the box as often as possible.

Berbatov was great at dropping off, and Keane was great at making runs beyond the defence. But we didn't have the creative midfielders we have now in Modric, Kranjcar and Giovani, who can all link up with the front man/men. So I don't think the number 9 is as important in this team. We do of course have Crouch as an option if we do want a number 9 at any point.

If they won't deal with us for Bellamy or Richards, we've got no chance with Ireland.

Quality round up as usual A&C.

I could only really see Ireland coming in if Jenas or O'Hara were to be sold. Ashley Young is still someone who I believe could do a good job for us as a squad player, but Huntelaar.................next please.

The mad dash guessing game last night was quite something to behold. So late as it is..

I asked my father in law, who is knowledgeable in all things to do with 'The Hunt' what Tally-Ho signifies and his answer, verbatim was "The hunt is on". Late I know but for some strange perverse reason I wanted to share that.

And while I am in here; Stephen Ireland - yes please. Fantastic footballer, unlucky last year with injuries and the Arab revolution. William Gallas - ****

I don't understand why we're looking for a LM. Niko, Modric, Bale.....???

My guess is that Harry wants to play 451 more with Bale at left back and Kranjcar and Modric in the middle (which is how they play for Croatia, I believe)

Well that cryptic message from the Goat certainly livened things up last night.

I haven't seen anyone so excited about a Goat, since the last time Welshie got confused and thought it was a sheep when he was last at ewe-th club!!

Very funny!

On a more serious note, I would dearly love to see Huntelaar sign for us - but I can't decide if that feeling is based on actually believing he would improve us or a general feeling of 'can we please effing sign someone coz i'm bored'!

Doesnt matter how good a player has or hasnt been for a club in the past, all signings are risky. You've got to ask yourself whether you think that player is worth the risk. Looking at the deal that has been touted about for KJH, I'd say he was definately worth the risk!
