Doesn’t mean we should swap him for another crocked player. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Well no, it obviously doesn't and nor was it meant to ! I was just pointing out that if, like me, you feel Gio could fit nicely in the Maddison role and therefor is very useful to have around, you still have to consider that he's been plagued with a lot of injuries since he joined and he could easily be out injured when we need him, so he is a risk....just like Fati is/ would be.

Yeah think we'll need decent cover for Maddison this season so not a fan of losing Lo Celso as he's perfect for that role.

Only way it makes sense to me is if Ange also sees Kulu as an attacking 8 and this opens up the RW for Fati. Personally I'm doubtful Kulu is as good a fit for that 8 role as Lo Celso, though. And isn't Fati more of a left winger anyway...where we're stacked.

Doesn't really add up.
Also Devine going on loan. Obviously not ready yet but would learn a lot from both.

I dont see why we would part with Gio when he seems perfect for Ange's system, had a good preseason and can rotate/play alongside Maddison.

Fati I am not sold on at all as the injuries worry me. I have read a number of Barca fans views on him though and they think he is getting back to his best and if he did then he would be a top player. This contradicts @Ghost Hardware view though and I havent personally watched Fati so I would trust his opinion definitely.

Fati's potential is absolutely sky high. Alot higher than afew on here realise , I'd say.

Xavi had some pretty strong words just afew days ago about them not even considering letting Fati go though.
I don’t think anyone doubts his potential, he could be world class but his injury really set him back not just physically but mentally. His game has changed quite a bit. IF he gets back to his best then yes it would be a monumental signing but it’s a gamble.

As for Xavi it’s standard Barca. They want to get Felix (Xavi isn’t so keen) and an attacker has to leave to accommodate. They can’t sign him and register him if someone doesn’t leave. Fati is just the likeliest fall guy out of the possible options. I wouldn’t be surprised if Xavi would prefer to get Gio and keep Fati

He was only out for 6 days last season (2 games missed) from a bruised knee. 2 seasons prior to that weren’t great but most important season was last year and he seems to have come through that relatively unscathed.

He's lost quite a bit of explosiveness and he had his meniscus removed which means he has a significantly higher chance of getting arthritis in that knee and is a big injury risk long term.

Fati sounds like a player Mendes is trying to flog and has tempted us. In a data driven way of course.

He probably won't want to come and Barca will piss us about so I'm sure it won't happen anyway

Gio wants out , cant keep an unhappy player
Is this ITK? Where have you seen he wants out?

Yes he may have been disappointed at not playing a part in the first two games but it's a long season ahead and there will be plenty of chances for him. Maybe even tomorrow considering Maddison had a suspected injury after the United game?

From the talk in preseason Gio seemed happy, he was playing well, Ange talked highly of him, and he even helped convince Veliz to come to us!

Coming back to WLB's ITK this morning, I would hope there's a place for Gio in our squad and that we don't use him as a makeweight for Fati. You just know that if we wanted to buy a player of Gio's quality in today's market we would be asked for something like 60-70M, and yet because he hasn't featured much for Spurs and because all the other teams outside the PL and Saudi are skint we would only be offered a tiny fraction of that fee. Let's keep Gio and do everything to move on PEH and Ndombele.

It’s not about being injury prone, it’s about the effects the major injury has had on his overall game.

If you haven’t seen him ether pre or post injury search on YouTube

Tifo Football - What Happened To Ansu Fati.

It will at least give the basic info about what happened to him.

thought it was being reported - I will stand corrected if not
There was a report earlier this week that Gio was unhappy not to have had minutes so far and was therefor looking to leave to a Spanish club......but the report was from a Spanish newspaper so was seen as a bit of a 'they would say that wouldn't they' type of piece.

We really need to keep Gio and as for Fati does anyone think if he was up to it that Barca would be letting him go I don't think so.
When he broke into the first team he looked outstanding and the next big thing from La Masia but injuries and thinking he was the new Messi by taking the number 10 have affected him and his career has went backwards. I don't think he is what we need and I think he would not cut in the premier league.

2 disasters then. 1 letting Gio go and 2 signing Fati who is a monumental injury risk and doesn't really fit the profile of winger we need anyway.
What disaster? WLB said Fati may be an option at the last minute and Lo Celso could be a makeweight but also may not be. The hyperbole on here is next level this window.

I'd personally take the risk on Fati over a lot of the other attacking links. He is (was?) a genuine world class talent that we'd otherwise have no chance with but for his injury.

The biggest downside is obviously the injury concern, although he played 36 games for Barca last season and only missed 2 games due to an unrelated injury. I know since the initial injury he's had potentially related injuries as his body has overcompensated but that's generally solved with physio work and judging by last season appears to be working.

His game has undeniably changed, either physically or mentally he's lost some of his ability/willingness to beat players but his finishing is as good as ever and his attacking contributions show this. I think Solomon and Gil are being overlooked as wingers in Ange's system - ITK suggesting Solomon has impressed in training and Gil feels like he deserves a chance in a system that suits him. Fati can provide that goal threat from wide that we lack in the squad at the moment.

It is definitely a risk, but one that could elevate us if it pays off. People are clamouring for Orban (me included!) but I don't see this as any less of a risk. He's just had a full season under his belt (albeit mostly from the bench but he never broke down), Xavi always speaks highly of him, the fans seem to want to keep him over Ferran and they surely wouldn't have given him the 10 shirt if they didn't rate him.

Fati could be a loan with an option as well? We have no info on how the deal would be structured.

I’m happy with whatever happens.
Because if Ange is being given a say in these matters, then I fully trust his judgment.
And I will do for the next season…so he can bed in his ideas and philosophy.

If for any reason these transfers were being forced upon him, well that’s a different matter.

Would it be possible to get a Fati thread? Marca linked us well yesterday in the print edition I think so the link is out there.
