Yeah i don't like it ether, i guess it depends on what Ange thinks of him in training. TBF he might still be too raw, hope not tho as your completely right re speed with Davies and Dier. Would be horrible.
Agree mate.

I'm quite confident the team will be:

Vicario

Porro
Phillips
Dier
Emerson

Bissouma
Sarr
PEH or Bentancur and take him off after 60 mins.

Kulu
Son
Johnson

Subs:
Not sure on all of them but the below will likely be included:
Forster
Davies
Dorrington?
Skipp
Bentancur
Lo Celso
Gil
Veliz

1-2 u21's.

I'm possibly missing someone?

Googs

Porro Dier Phillips Emerson

Sarr Bissouma Lo Celso

Deki Son Johnson

We have to give Phillips a chance, we need some pace at CB in a high line starting Davies and Dier would be suicide. The only viable alternative is if he plays Emerson & Dier with Davies at LB but I’d rather that was a back up option if Phillips struggles. And what’s the point of keeping Lo Celso if we don’t play him when Madders is out, he’s the most like for like player we have. If he clearly isn’t up to it or has mentally checked out and wants to leave in January then rectify it as best we can by either playing Bentancur, Deki or Gil in that role

I think Emerson will start LB mate, think Ange prefers his athleticism and ability on the ball compared to Davies.

Agree unlikely Bentancur will start just yet in which case I think the midfield 3 will be : Bissouma, Sarr and PEH and we will bring Lo Celso on if we need more creativity and TBH PEH deserves a start and can do a job as a creative n.o8 like he does for Denmark although I'd equally like to see Lo Celso given a go and replicate his pre-season form.
Im hoping we see Gio start. If he doesn't then im not sure why he's still at the club. I can see the argument to go more defensive in CM because of our weak back line but even so I don't see that CM 3 creating much at all and i think it would be better to switch to that when we are ahead rather then starting like that. Essentially it feels too defensive for an Ange starting line up despite the weakness at the back. Its worth noting that Gio also presses well and has a good defensive side to his game so its not as if hes only useful one way. But you could well be right and maybe he decides to be more precautious.

I'm a big big Gio fan always have been so would also love to see him start and you'd think that would be the more aggressive Ange type of decision/line-up however it is a tricky away game and if Lo Celso isn't so much in Ange's longer-term plans then I could see him starting Bentancur for 60mins as an alternative or giving PEH a game as an 8 to reward him for his performances recenty.

Can't really call it but yea my order of preference would be:
1. Lo Celso
2. Bentancur
3. PEH

All have pros and cons I suppose.

I'm still somehow far more upbeat about the prospect of games with our current injury hit squad than I was at any time last season, full strength or otherwise.

If we can somehow get 4 pts from these next two games, we'll have given ourselves a bit of a cushion with which to absorb some dropped points and losses until the new year IMO.

If previous performances in the Premier League are anything to go by and we want a midfielder with goal scoring potential to replace Madders then the only choice is Rodrigo , just 37 matches played in PL but on goals scored and chances created he is way ahead of PEH or Lo Celso.

But is he fit enough to start a game? That's the question here. He is the best of the three, and I'd imagine it will be Sarr, Bissouma and Bentancur until AFCON/Maddison returns. But for tomorrow, is it to early to start him? Do you start him then bring him off around 60?

It's not an easy call to make, because we can't afford to get it wrong with his fitness and return.

We are fucked . Playing a high line with dier and PEH as our central defenders is asking for trouble
He did it against Chelsea with 9 men and everyone was praising Ange for how bold his tactics were in the match thread. I thought it was bizarre to praise then and I think it's even more insane now. We simply have to modify our tactics for a few games.

I'd be amazed if Lo Celso starts given he hasn't even been used a sub really up to now. It's hard to think Ange with his demands of pressing will put in a guy who has no match fitness. Bentancur's only been back a couple of games after a long injury and got trusted to be put in sooner. I think he will start and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a game where Hojbjerg's experience gets him the nod over Sarr.

Royal & Hojberg are trusted by Ange, so i expect them to start.
We could however do with some creativity on the pitch.

I would start Rodrigo and hope we can get a lead then bring on Pierre after 60 mins but whatever Ange does is alright by me, he has called it right so far this season.

I said you can't play Dier and PEH in a high line and you disagreed?
No I didn't, I disagreed with the post below. Was disagreeing that we should change our style. Ange will not anyway and I agree with him. But we need pace back there so think Phillips should play.
