I hope all SC had a good christmas, lets talk Newcastle...

I guess Defoe is suspended folks, for simply trying to win a header.

Gomes
Hutton Dawson Kaboul Disco
Lennon Jenas Palacios Modric
VDV
Pavs

I think Bale is looking a touch jaded at the moment, and obviously the immense media spotlight he has been under will have had some effect so I reckon it might be wise to give him a day on the bench tomorrow, which also means you can take Modric out of combat up against Nolan and Barton and leave that for JJ/Sarge whilst Luka can weave his magic. Pavs in for Defoe, although Crouch, even Keano would be fine by me.

Another 3 points and we are singing and swinging, and will see out 2010 as a great year for Spurs.

Crouch for Defoe. To deal with Carroll a set pieces.

VdV will score our goals and the battle will be far too physical for Pavlyuchenko.

Im sure we will win our appeal against the red card. Nothing malicious in it. Just tried using his arm for more height and kept his eye on the ball

I can't see Modric starting, he was out on his feet and less than 48 hours to recover from persistent attacks of cramp?

JJ has to play and I would say so does Crouch.

Absolutely. How many assists has Crouch got for VdV?

Pav can play against Fulham, much more suited to that sort of game.

Ah but we've seen VDV doesnt need Crouch to score :) Although I do fancy Crouch v Coloccini... I still think Pav and VDV's movement upfront would be to much for the barcodes defence.

Gomes

Corluka Kaboul Dawson Assou-Ekotto

VDV Palacios Modric Kranjcar

Pavlyuchenko Crouch

Subs: Cudicini, Hutton, Bassong, Bale, Jenas, Lennon, Keane.

Radical changes, I know, but I think we need to freshen things up as some of the lads were really out on their feet at the end last night.
I'd worry about players picking up muscle injuries as they played an hour with 10 men.
To ensure we get off to a quick start, I think we may need the fresh legs, plus we've got a great squad so lets use it.
For the second half, when both teams start to tire, I'd bring on Lennon and Bale and hit Newcastle on the counter.

That is absolute insanity. Where the hell is our biggest asset, our width and pace?! Youve replaced all the pace in the side with Kranjcar and Corluka - arguably 2 of our slowest players.

I've now come to the conclusion that Van Der Vaart is pretty much a number 10, forward. So from this point moving forward it should be him and a striker as the front two. I actually think Rafa could outscore any of our current strikers. 10 in 15 so far, Thats some record for your first season, At this rate he'll easily hit 20 goals.

Quick turnaround. Harry will make changes especially seeing we play again at weekend. VDV has just returned from a hammy and Kaboul was out injured a while. Both will go to the bench as they will be fatigued and that is when injuries tend to occur. Palacios put in a great shift against Villa but feel Jenas will get the nod against Newcastle. We will go with two up front to start at WHL. The only doubt I have is Modric who was down with cramp late in the match.

Depends on which Pav turns up. If it is the non plussed Pav, his movement wouldn't be too much for a statue to deal with.

This is the great thing about SC - range of opinions!

IMO, it would be mad to start Bale and/or Lennon - 2 games in 3 days is a huge physical strain on the body - and an even greater strain when having to play with one less man for an hour. I'd be protective of a few players that way, and with Bale, he is in danger of burning out (if he arguably has not done so already). As for Lennon, we know he picks up injuries easily enough.

Corluka is possibly one of the best back-up players we have as there is very little between himself and Hutton - Hutton at the moment is just simply the in-form player. He has always done a solid job for us, and wouldn't let us down up against Gutierrez

Niko Kranjcar was our top-scoring midfield player last night year so that's not too bad for being one of our slowest players! He's out of favour with Harry, as the manager has said himself, not because he lacks the quality (like Bentley, GDS, Keane, etc), but because Bale has been THAT good.

Bale or Lennon off the bench for the 2nd half tomorrow would be of great benefit to the side, plus would lessen the likelihood of picking up an injury (should they both start, they should be limited to 60/70 mins)

Absolutely mate

The thought goes deeper for me though, as most PL defences have shown, they are very effective at dealing with Crouch by using two centre backs to do a job. While doing this, it allows more space for VdV in the hole, as there isn't a spare CB to drop onto him, meaning one of the midfielders has to track VdV. Then....that allows Lenny and Bale more room to go 1v1 against their repective full backs without being double teamed :)shifty:) as there are lliterally no spare other players. Throw Modric into the equation and Robert is your mother's brother.

I am worried about Carroll in the air though, especially from set plays.

Having said all that.....I wouldn't be overly upset if Pavlyuchenko played

**Kevin Nolan suspended for them**

That is a big blow for them. He's been scoring for them lately and is a very decent player.

We should focus on our own game. We are in our best run of form this season and starting to look like the team that finished last season. We are at home against a midtable team who are very inconsistent and who will try to come out and play.

We just need to do our thing and stay patient. This is yet another massive game where we will need to get a result as man city have villa at home. We will also have the incentive of moving back into the top 4 if we win.
